Job Overview // Aperçu du Poste

This is a senior individual-contributor role with a strong emphasis on hands-on process design, technology integration, and facility optimization. The Lead Process Engineer will be responsible for the technical integrity of our DAC facilities, moving from conceptual design to pilot-scale operations and commercial deployment. While this role does not include direct people management, you will carry significant influence over technology selection, energy integration, and the overall efficiency of our carbon removal facilities.This role is preferably hybrid (office-based in select locations), but we are open to remote candidates within Canada, with periodic travel to project sites and offices.

Bien que ce poste n’implique pas de gestion directe de personnel, il comporte une influence importante sur la sélection des équipements, l’intégration énergétique et l’efficacité globale de nos installations d’élimination du carbone.Ce poste est idéalement hybride (basé dans l'un de nos bureaux), mais nous sommes ouverts aux candidatures en télétravail partout au Canada, moyennant des déplacements périodiques vers nos sites de projets et nos bureaux.

Key Responsibilities// Responsabilités principales

• Process Design: Lead conceptual and detailed design, including Heat and Material Balances (H&MB) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).

• Instrumentation: Develop and refine P&IDs, ensuring robust control logic and safety standards (HAZOP/LOPA).

• Simulation: Perform advanced process simulations (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to optimize energy consumption—a critical metric for DAC viability.

• Technology Selection: Drive selection for key components like contactors, regeneration units, and moisture/heat management systems.

• Risk Mitigation: Assess technical risks related to solvent/sorbent degradation and environmental impacts on capture efficiency.

• Conception des procédés : Diriger la conception conceptuelle et détaillée des procédés, incluant les bilans de matière et d’énergie (BME) ainsi que les schémas de procédés (PFD).

• Instrumentation : Élaborer et optimiser les schémas de tuyauterie et d’instrumentation (P&ID), en intégrant une logique de contrôle robuste et les exigences en matière de sécurité (HAZOP/LOPA).

• Simulation : Réaliser des simulations avancées de procédés (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) afin d’optimiser la consommation énergétique.

• Sélection technologique : Piloter la sélection des technologies pour les composantes clés (contacteurs, unités de régénération, gestion thermique).

• Atténuation des risques : Évaluer et atténuer les risques techniques liés à la dégradation des solvants/sorbants et aux impacts environnementaux sur l'efficacité du captage.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years in engineering, with significant time in process design within the energy, chemicals, or gas processing industries.

• Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field.

• Certification: Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng / ing.) with a Canadian engineering association.

• Software: Expert-level experience with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II).

• Language: English is required.

• Expérience : Plus de 10 ans d’expérience en ingénierie, dont une part significative en conception de procédés (énergie, chimie ou traitement des gaz).

• Formation : Baccalauréat, maîtrise ou doctorat en génie chimique, génie des procédés ou domaine connexe.

• Certification : Titre d’ingénieur(e) professionnel(le) (ing. / P.Eng) délivré par un ordre professionnel canadien.

• Logiciels : Expertise avancée avec des outils de simulation (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, PRO/II).

• Langues : L’anglais est requis.
