Role Description
We are looking for a highly driven mechanical engineer to lead the mechanical, process & plumbing disciplines for our first-in-kind battery factory and beyond. This is an exciting opportunity to start from a blank slate and use first principles fundamentals to design the FormFactory mechanical & process infrastructure needed to achieve the most advanced high volume battery manufacturing in the world.

What You'll Do:
Lead the mechanical, process & plumbing engineering disciplines, manage their scope and execution, including concepts, deliverables, reviews and internal/external engineering consultantsDevelop mechanical, process & plumbing design packages for permitting and constructionManage the design of a wide range of mechanical systems, including: HVAC, plumbing, hydronics, compressed air, natural gas, nitrogen, heaters, (de)humidification, dust collection, process exhaust, water & wastewaterEngineer of Record (EOR) for some projects (if licensed)Review and develop designs that are cost effective, constructible, and code compliant while meeting From Energy’s quality and schedule requirementsManage high quality BIM (REVIT) models, engineering drawings, and PIDs for all mechanical systemsCoordinate with other disciplines including Design Managers, Manufacturing reps, and other stakeholdersOwn development of equipment datasheets, construction documents and specifications Technical bid evaluation, review vendor proposals and project specific vendor drawingsYou will be working from the factory site and will participate in field construction and commissioning activitiesWhat You'll Bring:
8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in large commercial and large industrial infrastructure (e.g., manufacturing, data centers, hospitals, etc.). Proven experience with a wide range of mechanical systems, HVAC, exhaust/dust collection, gas systems, chemical systems and plumbing design.Mechanical or Chemical professional engineer (P.E.) license or the ability to receive itExperience in EPC Environment (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) leading engineering discipline(s)Proficient in the use of Revit and AutoCADWorking knowledge of designing the following equipment types: open and/or closed-circuit cooling towers, water and air cooled chillers, gas fired and electric water boilers, large air handling units with heating/cooling coils and/or gas fired heaters, packaged air to air heat pumps, water to water heat pumps, dust collectors, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, fans, and pumpsExperience with the following is preferred: Abatement systems (thermal oxidizers, dry and wet scrubbers), Heat Exchangers (shell/tube, plate/frame, brazed fin), Control Valves and Instrumentation, and Heat Recovery SystemsExperience in designing H Rated spaces and chemical space managementWorking knowledge of writing sequences of operation for mechanical systemsExceptional drive, sense of ownership and resourcefulnessBachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical engineering or equivalent
