About the company:
Make your mark on the future of flight as a 2026 Vertical Aerospace Graduate hire
At Vertical Aerospace, we are redefining flight for a cleaner, quieter and more connected world.
We are developing the VX4, the UK’s first fully electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. With zero operating emissions and advanced design, the VX4 will transform how people travel — faster, greener and safer.
Founded in 2016, Vertical is now one of the world’s leading eVTOL developers, with a pre-order book including Japan Airlines, American Airlines, and strong industrial partners such as Honeywell and Aciturri.
The Opportunity
As a Graduate Engineer within our Power and Battery Management Systems (Power & BMS) team, you’ll help develop the high-voltage systems that power the VX4 safely, efficiently and reliably. This team is responsible for designing and integrating the energy and charging systems that form the heart of our aircraft’s electrical powertrain.
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary group working at the forefront of high-voltage architecture, advanced charging technology and energy storage innovation. Whether you’re exploring new charging concepts, analysing system performance, or supporting prototype testing, you’ll see your work contribute directly to a step change in sustainable aerospace technology.
This is more than a first job; it’s an opportunity to join a team of engineers shaping the next era of sustainable aviation. You’ll be surrounded by mentors, immersed in real projects from day one, and challenged to think boldly as we transform electric propulsion from concept to certified reality.
What You’ll Do
From day one, you’ll have meaningful responsibility. You will:
Support understanding of global HV charging technology route maps and future trends.
Investigate and map supplier technical capabilities for high-voltage and charging systems.
Contribute to the design and development of in-house high-power charging and energy storage systems.
Assist in defining system architectures, interfaces, and validation activities across HV charging and battery domains.
Collaborate across Power, BMS, and Systems Integration teams to enhance charging performance, efficiency, and compliance.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for graduates who are analytical, motivated, and eager to learn fast. You should have:
A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Understanding of high-voltage systems, charging infrastructure, and energy storage principles.
Familiarity with tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice or Altium for simulation or design work.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and collaboration skills with a focus on safety and reliability.
Curiosity about emerging HV charging technologies in aerospace, automotive, or renewable sectors.
If you don’t meet every requirement, that’s okay - we value potential and a willingness to grow.
Why join Vertical?
You’ll join a supportive, inclusive team working on one of the most exciting challenges in aerospace today. Expect mentoring from experienced engineers, real responsibility and the chance to make an impact from day one.
Every day at Vertical is an opportunity to learn, collaborate and shape the future of sustainable flight.
