Junior Engineering Opportunities - Vertical Aerospace

Are you a bright, ambitious, and curious Junior Engineer eager to take the next stage in your career and contribute towards making history within the Electric Aviation Industry? 

We are recruiting the brightest junior talent to make an impact across Battery Algorithms Thermodynamics and Powertrain Modelling roles within our world-class Battery and Powertrain Team. Here you will directly contribute towards developing the VX4, our fully electric, sustainable eVTOL aircraft.

Key Responsibilities shared across all roles: 

Working underneath our Modelling Team Lead and Deputy Head of Powertrain, we’ll help you build the skills and knowledge for you to take ownership of:

• Simulation framework development.

• Modelling verification and unit testing.

• Powertrain component models and correlation.

• Flight and Rig test data analysis.

• Interfacing with vehicle level simulation and Pilot in the Loop simulator.  

• Working closely with Aerodynamics team to develop novel cooling solutions.

• Work closely with key tier-one aerospace suppliers. 

What would we like you to bring?

• Exceptional academic performance within Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, Systems, or Computer Engineering or related engineering field

• Ideal candidates will have completed a Master's or PhD, although undergraduates with relevant degrees will also be considered.

• You will be a recent graduate or have completed at most 1-2 years of post-education experience within a commercial environment. 

• Some experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape.

• An understanding of Thermodynamic principles.

• Critical mindset, capable of grounding approaches in first principles and academic research.

• Eagerness to learn new concepts and methods, design experiments independently, and execute them.

• Strong problem-solving skills, proactive attitude, and a drive to contribute to innovative projects.

• One of our Talent Acquisition team members will then contact successful candidates for a 20-30 minute screening call. These calls will take place between

• Monday 3rd June and Thursday 13th June.

• Successful candidates will then be invited to participate in a one-day assessment center at our Company HQ in Bristol on Wednesday 19th June, running from 09:00 to 15:15. This will be an opportunity to showcase your skills, meet our team, and learn more about Vertical Aerospace.

• We will then extend offers of employment to successful candidates within 24 hours of the Assessment Centre
