About the company:
Our Mission
At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The Valo, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), 'zero emissions' aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.
We won't realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to 'redefine' aerospace best practices. We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals. Valo is targeting airliner-level safety certification in 2028 ahead of entering service with our airline and operator customers.
What to Expect
This graduate role gives you front-row access to how our aircraft move from engineering design to real-world build, and how digital systems make that possible.
As a Graduate Digital Manufacturing Engineer, you won’t just observe. You’ll help build the digital backbone that supports production.
You’ll be exposed to both our Aircraft and Battery Manufacturing Engineering teams, working directly with senior engineers and digital specialists.
You’ll see your work translate from:
CAD model
To digital build simulation
To shop floor execution
To aircraft on the line
Your time will be split between our Central Bristol Headquarters, the Vertical Energy Centre in Avonmouth, and the Flight Test Centre in Kemble, giving you visibility of both the digital systems and the physical production environments they support.
What You’ll Do
You’ll help turn engineering design intent into manufacturing reality by:
Supporting the transformation of Engineering BOM (EBOM) into Manufacturing BOM (MBOM) and Bill of Process
Developing and maintaining digital manufacturing data in platforms such as 3DEXPERIENCE (DELMIA)
Contributing to end-to-end process definition including sequencing, tooling, part allocation and resource planning
Supporting virtual builds to test manufacturability before physical assembly begins
Helping ensure shop floor systems (MES/MoM) are aligned with accurate digital data
Assisting with change management so engineering updates are reflected correctly in production systems
Improving data quality, traceability and system integration across PLM, ERP and manufacturing platforms
This is systems thinking applied to real aircraft production.
What You’ll Learn
By the end of your first year, you’ll have developed:
A deep understanding of how digital manufacturing works in aerospace
Practical experience with PLM, ERP and MES systems
Exposure to regulated production environments
Insight into aircraft and battery manufacturing at scale
Confidence working cross-functionally between engineering and production
You’ll build both technical capability and commercial awareness in a high-growth aerospace environment.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for graduates who are:
Degree-qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, Data, or a related discipline
Curious about how digital tools drive real-world production
Comfortable working with structured data and complex systems
Detail-oriented and analytical
Confident collaborating across different technical teams
Motivated by seeing tangible outcomes from their work
You don’t need to be an expert in 3DEXPERIENCE or PLM systems, but awareness or interest helps. What matters most is your willingness to learn and your appetite for solving complex problems.
