The Job:
Meati Foods is seeking a full-time IP Counsel to support and strategically grow the patent and IP portfolio as we continue to innovate. Candidates should have 5 years of law firm experience. Qualified candidates will be USPTO admitted and have experience prosecuting patent matters within a wide range of biotechnology, food and life sciences art units. Additionally, candidates should be motivated self-starters with superb communication and writing skills, display a commitment to excellence and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions
- Prepare, file, and prosecute US and foreign patent applications.
- Proactively and strategically counsel clients about IP strategy.
- Develop long term strategic plan to capture and protect all trade secrets and IP.
- Participate in due diligence and the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of agreements covering intellectual property rights, and other business-related contracts, as needed.
- Conduct patent searches and render opinions on patentability, freedom-to-operate, validity, non-infringement, and avoidance of third-party patents.
Job Requirements
- Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of law firm experience
- A demonstrated competency in biotechnology or life sciences is required
- USPTO admitted and have experience prosecuting patent matters within a wide range of biotechnology, food and life sciences art units.
Education
- Juris Doctor
Other Requirements
- Preferred candidates are licensed to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction
- Member of Colorado Bar or eligible for admission to Colorado bar. All candidates should be admitted or eligible to practice before the USPTO
- Strong writing and organizational skills.
- Collaborates well with others.
- Contract drafting and negotiation is a plus.
