Rivian is looking for an Industrial Engineering Manager to improve the production output in Normal, IL.  As an Industrial Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead & plan utilization of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to improve efficiency of operations in the fastest growing industry in the country and make a true impact on growing the Electric Vehicle Industry.

This is what you’ll do:

  • Plans and directs all industrial engineering activities and personnel within the plant
  • Ensures proper and effective support of new product launches by the manufacturing engineering department staff
  • Leads and coordinates the daily activities of various Manufacturing Areas, Interfaces with Advanced Manufacturing and Maintenance Groups
  • Helps to develop plant layouts and materials/product flow plans via internal and/or external sources
  • Assists in the preparation of Process Flow Diagrams, and other Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities
  • Leads and/or participates in all continuous improvement activities within area of responsibility, and ensures participation of direct reports these activities, as needed
  • Evaluates departmental training needs, schedules employees for training, and ensures their attendance of both local and outside seminars, as required
  • Develops annual department goals in support of Rivian’s stated corporate goals, and reviews and follows-up on the status of achieving these goals
  • Ensures the on-time delivery of all equipment necessary to support new product launches
  • Maintains open lines of communications with, and serves as a liaison between corporate staff, plant personnel, customers, and suppliers
    regarding new product launches and production issues
  • Manages overall departmental budgets and operations within the department per company set goals
  • Supervises and manages 7-10 salary direct reports
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

This is what you’ll need:

  • APQP (Design for Quality)
  • Problem solving experience – 8D method
  • Manufacturing/assembly process experience
  • PPAP documents
  • PFMEA
  • Control plan
  • MSA
  • CAD experience (Catia preferred)
  • Statistical process control / control charts
  • Data analytics software skills; ex. Excel, Tableau, etc.
  • Kaizen / continuous improvement process experience
  • 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt desired
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing environment to include ·2 to 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Process Engineering; and
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a lead, supervisory, or management position.  (Experience in an engineering function with an automotive manufacturer is preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day.
  • Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather.
