Internship Term: Summer 2023

Role Summary

Support the Manufacturing Operations team as an Industrial Engineering intern. You'll learn to improve the efficiency of our operations while maintaining Rivian established safety standards, and cross-team collaboration in an innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop work instructions, standardized work, process flow, and process documentation to ensure manufacturing process is being followed
  • Improve fixture, tooling equipment to our team members achieve their goals
  • Participate in product and packaging reviews to evaluate process impact and provide feedback on build sequence, process time analysis, and investment requirements
  • Perform line balancing activity to improve team efficiency.
  • Investigate assembly issues and implement solution by reviewing product design, process sequence plan, and builds affecting production and work during stages of New Product Launch.
  • Participates in department meetings.
  • Completes documentation of activities as required.
  • Develops and / or reviews production procedures.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar.
  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal, required.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Suite, preferred.
  • Knowledge go 3D modeling software like CAD, AutoCAD or similar, required.
  • Experience of PFMEA's, Lean methodology, Kaizen, 5s, Six Sigma, Time studies and/or MODAPTS experience, preferred.
  • Working Hours: 40 hours/week
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence between team and leaders.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to communicate in a high-pressure environment.

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.

Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
