About the role
As Industrial Automation Designer, you will own the component selection, interconnections, and modelling of the equipment within the control cabinets used within our energy storage systems. You will ensure that the electronic control cabinets are properly designed, modeled and documented to allow the efficient and error free assembly and test anywhere in the world. Ideally, you will be able to work part of the time in our Westlake Village, CA office; we allow the flexibility of work-from-home days.

What you will do
Participate in reviews and work with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure proper implementation of features.Interpret mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).Evaluate and document system cost/complexity trade studies.Design and evaluate system according to safety regulations and NEC and European requirements.Develop electrical design, schematics and drawings in 2D and 3D CAD (SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical)Research supplier products for components, specify and select automation components.Develop electrical controls bills of material.Deploy and configure system components per application specifications.Shape a culture of collaboration, innovation, constant improvement, excellence, transparency, open mindedness, humility, integrity, efficiency, joy, compassion, and fulfillment. What a qualified candidate should possess
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.5+ years’ field experience in control and industrial automation systems.Familiarity with international design standards (UL, CE, etc.).Experience commissioning and documenting electronic systems.High schedule flexibility.Ability to travel (10% - 20%) for test site support, field installation, startup, and commissioning.
Preferred
Experience with Automation Systems for elevators and trolleys.Experience controlled drive technology, field buses, HMI and sensor systems.Demonstrated ability to perform early phase trade studies, design, and ultimate commissioning.Familiarity with Project Data Management and requirements tracking systems.Proven ability to produce compliance and test documentation/reports to support approved electrical system design and grid-compliant tie-in per approved standards.A passion for our shared vision of carbon neutrality by 2050.
