Job Summary:

MycoWorks is seeking a person to fill the role of Import/Export Manager. This person will help plan and execute domestic and international strategies, managing the operational execution of all tasks required to achieve successful delivery of goods.

This role will ensure conformity with the regulations of countries from which goods are imported to or exported from the US, as well as shipping lanes within the EU. This role will produce accurate shipping documentation while overseeing all aspects of the shipment process regarding documentation and various agency filings.  Critical metrics will be managed to track financials, carrier performance, and industry trends.

This role will work with all levels of leadership and will report to the Director of Supply Chain.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate with strategic discussions and execution of the EU shipping distribution network
  • Secondary assist in obtaining all required import permits and export licenses for all processes
  • Administratively monitor all domestic and international freight flow for truck, air, and ocean 
  • Build and maintain relationships with various  carriers around the globe (small parcel, LCL, FCL, LTL, FTL, airlines, streamlines, freight forwarders, drayage carriers) in day-to-day operations, volume planning, and contract negotiations
  • Identify and manage key metrics for vendors on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis with auditable tracking
  • Maintain and stay current of new developments in all areas of import/export compliance shipments;  ensuring clearance and delivery of all goods with regard to the validation of trade paperwork and filing of export information in accordance with internal processes
  • Evaluate all items for import/export requirements, ensure accuracy of data and document filing, collaborate with customs brokers to provide clearance of all imports/exports, perform all record-keeping processes to assist with applicable requirements
  • Provide optimal level of customer services and resolve all shipment issues that relate to the clearance and agency filing portion of the shipment
  • Collaborate with various departments and obtain all documents required to ensure compliance with all import and export policies and assist with regular audits
  • Write and implement systems and policies (standard work instructions) to administer documentation processes required to import and export materials, providing training to shipping personnel
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field of study; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-10 years related experience working in a similar role
  • Practical experience applying US Department of Commerce EAR
  • Working knowledge of international shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing slips, airway bill, and export licenses; including consignee information, International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS) as established by International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), harmonized tariff code (HTC) and nomenclature, country of origin, customs value, export classification, and license data
  • Strong planning, organization, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills
  • Able to effectively handle time critical issues and meet goals despite unexpected setbacks, obstacles, or time constraints
  • Proven experience building relationships internally and externally
  • Able to achieve targeted results with minimal supervision
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and skillful in Microsoft Excel in particular:
  • (Preferred) Bilingual:  French, Spanish, Italian
