Your role and your team:  

The Head of the Machining Centre will lead all internal part manufacturing resources for additive and subtractive processes. This role will be part of the Manufacturing Centre department which is responsible of the delivery of fast-make prototypes and TDD (Technology Development & Demonstration) execution. The scope spans from machining to welding and metrology to additive manufacturing technologies. An own CAD design sub-department serving the entire manufacturing division is completing the responsibility. The role-owner reports to the VP of Production and is part of the extended production leadership team.

This function is leading the end-to-end production process for Part Manufacturing in metallics and polymers. Starting from raw material to final metrology of the final product. Evolving in a constantly changing environment, the responsible person must be strongly oriented towards the operations of the area while keeping a focus on the development and expansion of this ecosystem.

Your Day to Day:

  • Manage the internal prototyping execution and production design activities
  • Recruit, qualify and develop a diverse team of manufacturing engineers, designers and technicians
  • Assess existing internal capabilities and steadily increase the scope of the Machining Centre based on the needs of engineering
  • Lead technical projects to secure the quality, delivery and cost targets of your shopfloor equipment
  • Drive the tactical forecasting for the majority of projects within the production division
  • Act as a stakeholder in all acquisition activities of new technologies, systems, and equipment for the entire manufacturing environment
  • Create and align internal business processes in manufacturing with Lilium stakeholders to ensure best delivery compliance, quality and cost
  • Support (manufacturing) engineering in questions of manufacturability and technical challenges
  • Develop and qualify your department within the POA framework

Your profile: 

  • Mechanical engineering degree in automotive, production and/or aerospace
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience record for machining of high complexity components
  • Excellent knowledge of machining processes (multi-axis, high speed machining), additive manufacturing and metrology technologies
  • Capable of extended cross-functional collaboration, including production planning, engineering, purchasing, accounting, quality, manufacturing, and facility management
  • Get-done attitude and solution oriented
  • Confident attitude eager to take decisions with calculated risks in a fast-pacing environment
  • Capacity to work in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines and involvement by top management
  • Ability to manage expectations, requirements and provide compromised solutions
  • Lean skills - driving continuous improvements, ergonomics, HS&E and process capability
  • Lead and foster the get-done attitude of the department according to the Lilium values
  • Excellent analytical capabilities with a drive to challenge the status quo; eager to learn; puts the team first; robust and passionate to follow given objectives; uses failure as learning experience; excellent communicator with a high sense of urgency
  • IT Skills: Microsoft Office, ERP, MES and CAD
