To ensure that we deliver a safe low carbon heat install to our domestic customers, we look to continually develop the safety, compliance and quality assurance side of the business.
At Octopus Energy Services, we are looking for a Head of Health and Safety to provide strategic direction and lead the planning, development, implementation, monitoring and review of the OES, safety and wellbeing strategy, policies, standards and management systems.
This is a remote role, which will require travel across the UK (especially England and Wales)

What you'll do
Direct on OES safety and wellbeing strategy, policies, standards and management systems.Advise on and recommend setting health and safety policy, objectives and performance measures to the OES senior leadership team.Produce an annual OES health and safety plan and regular performance reports.Lead projects to enhance employee wellbeing, workplace design, and working arrangements.Partner with senior managers to empower proactive health and safety management within their teams and departments.Monitor changes to legislation and good practice/industry guidance that significantly impacts OES, disseminate relevant information and provide advice on the practical application to the company’s activities.Advise on health and safety competence and capability, as well as organisational training and development needs. Work with colleagues in Organisational Development to ensure the availability of a health and safety training programme to suit organisational needs.Establish systems for measuring, monitoring, analysing and reviewing health and safety performance. Deliver a programme of health and safety audits and monitor close out of actions arising from health and safety monitoring and auditing.Manage and be accountable for the operational activity and performance of the Corporate Health & Safety Service to ensure the provision of high-quality, competent advice and an efficient and effective serviceLead and report on investigations of severe health and safety incidents, dangerous occurrences and work-related ill health
Stakeholder Management
Engage with and form positive relationships with key internal stakeholders to further high health and safety standards.Represent the OES externally and act as a point of contact in its dealings with regulatory bodies and representatives of external bodies such as the Employer's Organisation, Retail Energy Code, and DNEZ—network with health and safety counterparts in other suppliers and utility companies to benchmark and share good practices.What you'll need
Significant experience of leading Healthy, Safety & Compliance within a business - facing potential legal challenges, court appearances, and the management of serious incidents.A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualificationChartered membership with IOSH or equivalent is preferredStrong knowledge of UK health and safety laws, regulations, and standardsEnsure full compliance with health and safety regulations, including the ability to stand in front of a judge and defend the company's practices if necessary.Ability to travel to various sites when required Why else you'll love it here
