Your role and your team:

The Head of Equipment and Infrastructure Engineering will lead all equipment and infrastructure engineers. Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing Engineering, you will be responsible for all equipment’s within the production organization.

You will have end-to-end responsibility to provide the best process & technology solutions to meet design requirements and business targets in accordance with EASA 21G and EN9100 standards.

The scope of your team spans from setting new standards and specifying the equipment - standard as well as special equipment - to the whole realization phase until the handover to the operations team. This also includes definition, selection and integration of all in-line as well as end-of-line testing capabilities which fulfill Liliums high quality requirements for all internally and externally manufactured products.

Facility management, the on-site contractor management and the responsibility of the TPM (total productive maintenance tool) are completing your area.

Your Day to Day: 

  • Manage the implementation of Liliums ground-breaking production strategy with all equipment suppliers including planning, coordinating, acquisition, maintenance, and safety as well as financial forecasting and budget approvals for the entire production environment
  • Engage in a global network for technology acquisition, new product designs and modern production system solution for all components and technologies needed
  • Create and align internal business processes regarding the assembly lines standard equipment, testing and infrastructure with Lilium stakeholders to ensure best delivery compliance, quality, and cost
  • Work within a multifunctional ME-Leadership team that includes the Head of Product, Process, Supply chain as well as Operations Facility /Power Plant and Program
  • Lead your team with a quality-first mindset through supplier selection, sourcing, industrialization, and delivery
  • Identify conflicts early and drive successful resolution across people, processes, and products.
  • Recruit, qualify and develop a diverse team of Equipment and Infrastructure engineers
  • Infuse and practice a culture of openness, courage, commitment, and respect; where your team feel empowered to take ownership of tasks and deliver results on time

Your Profile:

You are a passionate, experienced, and highly motivated engineer with proven record and experience in Equipment Acquisition for high volume assembly lines of automotive and/or aircraft assembly.

  • Mechanical engineering degree in automotive, production and/or aerospace
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience record for Equipment Acquisition
  • Excellent knowledge of assembly production, development, and manufacturing, including material, equipment/machinery, tooling selection and process specification
  • Experience in high-volume, automated manufacturing including process yield improvement during production ramp up
  • Deep knowledge about methodical approaches for identifying risks (D-/PFMEA, Six Sigma), MSA for high volume assembly lines as well es experience in product optimization (DFM / DFT)
  • Experience in leading teams up to 15 employees required
  • Confident attitude eager to take decisions with calculated risks in a fast-pacing environment
  • Ability to manage expectations, requirements and provide compromised solutions
  • Fluent in English, German skills is a plus.
