Lightship is an early-stage hardware startup launched in 2020 by Tesla alumni that is bringing the $26B recreational vehicle industry into the electric age. Based in San Francisco and Boulder, Lightship is designing and producing an aerodynamic, battery-powered trailer that liberates travelers from the noise, emissions, and range anxiety of gas RVing.
About the Role
Lightship’s mission to modernize and electrify RVs demands building cutting edge electronics and controls. As a Hardware/Software Integration Engineer, you will work in the lab and collaborate with other engineers on both software and hardware to make them work together to create an exciting product. You will debug hardware and software issues and clearly document and communicate these issues to ensure they are resolved. As an early career position in a broad role, you will succeed through being a quick learner, both through mentorship and self-study.
Onsite/Hybrid Work

Responsibilities
Integrate and validate vehicle subsystem components, such as sensors, controllers, and actuatorsCollaborate with software and controls engineers to conduct testing and validation of new features and componentsWork with subsystem owners to develop comprehensive test plans for subsystem validationDevelop and maintain test documentationClearly document test failures in bug tickets to ensure appropriate resolutionsManage firmware and software updates for engineering fleet vehiclesSupport engineering fleet triage and troubleshooting to resolve hardware and software issues promptlyRecreate issues and gather data to investigate bug reportsTravel up to 20% to support engineering builds and troubleshooting in the fieldMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent1-3 years experience working with hardware/software systemsProficient with basic lab tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.)Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++, PythonComfortable working in command-line interface terminalsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated cross-functional teamworkHands-on project experiencePreferred Qualifications
