Role Summary:

The primary purpose of the Propulsion Quality Group Leader is to lead, plan, organize and coordinate the overall daily activities of the Propulsion Quality Team Members, Technicians and Leads. The Quality Group Leader will work directly with the Propulsion Quality Engineers to identify and contain defective material and correct nonconforming processes.  The Quality Group Leader will work directly with the Quality Manager to help with strategic deployment of Quality processes. 

Responsibilities:

Specific primary responsibilities are defined by the following, but not limited to:

  • Promote a safe atmosphere by ensuring all safety standards and guidelines are met, leading by example.
  • Drive Compass Values into all applicable interactions, fostering a strong culture that aligns with the company’s objectives.
  • Maintains a high-quality relationship with both Quality and Cross-functional teams.
  • Use structured problem solving to solve daily issues as well as long term defect reduction.
  • Skilled at data driven problem solving of issues identified in process and products.
  • Direct supervision of Quality Team Members, Technicians, and Team Leaders.
  • Plan and deploy Quality Team Member agenda/task list.
  • Ensure that Quality team training is identified and completed at required time interval.
  • Manage all day-to-day operational supervisory team aspects including conflict resolution, time keeping, PTO requests, scheduling, etc. ​
  • Maintain Quality Team records including but not limited to training matrix, job qualifications, schedules, attendance log, etc.
  • Continuously establish, enforce, and improve standards for their zone and help support adjacent zones using SIPOC theory.
  • Conduct Recharge conversations with all employees and complete talent review profiles as needed​.
  • Manage gaps in performance through documentation and reset conversations as needed​.
  • Keep team appropriately staffed by interviewing and supporting onboarding of newly hired Team Members.
  • Regularly reports out quality performance to peers and management team. Determine quality team activity including recommendation of hiring, firing, performance, wage, and salary reviews.
  • Communicate critical updates to the team around changes/updates that need to be cascaded.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

*** Must be flexible to work split/flex shifts. This will more than likely be for a night shift position***

 

Qualifications:

  • College degree Preferred.
  • Six Sigma or ASQ certification/experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or leadership experience.
  • 3+ years of supervision experience. Or a combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of quality standards and inspection methods.
  • Understanding of layered audit procedures
  • Kaizen / continuous improvement process experience
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Understanding of how to quarantine and manage non- conforming material and MRB processes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress environment.
  • General office software usage capability (email, excel, word, etc.)
  • Understanding of quality systems, methods, tools, standards, customer expectations
