About the company:

Revolutionising urban air mobility and electrifying air travel

Our Mission

At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the future of electric aviation. The VX4, our electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) zero-emissions aircraft, will redefine how we navigate the skies.

We are challenging legacy approaches and rewriting aerospace best practices to deliver clean, safe, and scalable flight. As we grow rapidly from a prototype organisation into a scaling SME, your contributions will be critical in helping us achieve our ambitious goal of entering service by 2030.

What to Expect

As a Graduate or Entry-Level Powertrain V&V (Validation & Verification) Engineer, you will be at the forefront of testing and validating our cutting-edge electric powertrain systems. This is a hands-on role combining rigorous technical analysis with practical testing, ideal for proactive engineers who are excited about innovation and solving real-world challenges.

You’ll be contributing across the full testing lifecycle — from creating test plans and developing scripts, to executing tests and analysing critical performance data. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your career in aerospace engineering within a fast-paced, pioneering environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Create detailed test plans and define methodologies for validating advanced electric aerospace powertrain systems.

  • Execute functional and performance tests on high-voltage test setups and dynamometer rigs.

  • Develop and run automated test scripts using industry-standard tools such as Vector, MATLAB, and Simulink.

  • Process, visualise, and analyse raw test data, helping to identify trends and supporting root cause investigations.

  • Support the integration and commissioning of powertrain systems in both lab environments and onboard the aircraft.

  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise test reports for internal engineering teams and external stakeholders.

  • Provide hands-on engineering support to the flight test campaign and key program milestones.

What You’ll Bring

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).

  • Strong sense of ownership with the ability to independently manage tasks and priorities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • A structured, methodical approach to problem-solving and strong attention to detail.

  • Hands-on experience with system integration and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems.

  • Proficiency in data processing and analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or DIAdem.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with communication protocols including CAN, ARINC 825, and Ethernet.

  • An understanding of aerospace verification standards such as ARP4754 and DO-330.
