About the company:

Doing something different is never easy. It requires courage, optimism and grit. Core to our mission is building a team of adventurous individuals determined to make a positive impact on the world. This means challenging ourselves constantly. Stretching beyond the bounds of conventional thinking. Reframing old problems. Seeking new solutions. And operating comfortably in a space of uncertainty. While our backgrounds are diverse, our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Do you like doing the impossible? We’d love to hear from you.

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Rivian’s Capex Global Supply Management (GSM) Team sits at a unique intersection of manufacturing, engineering, and finance - allowing individuals insight into the launch of a product. Our mission is to accelerate Rivian’s growing footprint, manufacturing capabilities, and pace towards profitability by building, managing, and scaling a global capital equipment supply chain. The Drive Unit Capex GSM Team develops and executes capital equipment sourcing strategies for Rivian’s vehicle drive unit production lines. We seek confident leaders capable of working effectively with cross functional teams to ensure that business objectives are met. A Capex GSM has the ability to bring a large benefit to Rivian’s bottom line.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with engineering teams to assess and coordinate equipment requirements.
  • Effectively work with suppliers to negotiate optimal pricing and terms for sourcing.
  • Continue to work with suppliers to negotiate change orders, value additions, and price reductions throughout equipment design, fabrication/assembly, installation, commissioning, and post startup maintenance.
  • Partner with Legal to negotiate Agreements with suppliers.
  • Understand the technical aspects of equipment to identify opportunities for cost and labor optimization.
  • Develop a nuanced understanding of the commodity landscape to develop and maintain sourcing strategies.
  • Assess and mitigate supply chain and project timing risks to the business.
  • Contribute to reporting activities to track team KPIs and to incorporate into Executive presentations.
  • Facilitate education and training for employees on procurement policies and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS + minimum 3 years relevant work experience, masters degree a plus
  • Strong analytical and critical problem-solving skills
  • A knack for negotiations
  • Interest in manufacturing, electric vehicles, technology, and/or operations (experience preferred but not required)
  • Experience with and understanding of electric drive systems and propulsion.
  • Impeccable organizational, multi-tasking, and detail-oriented project management skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both verbally and written in English
  • Finance/business acumen
  • Ability to own and support projects from inception to release through self-supervision, problem solving, and time management
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams on a multitude of projects simultaneously
  • Ability to troubleshoot various technical issues and research effective solutions
