Help us make a big green dent in the universe. We're on a mission to drive the global renewable energy revolution, and we need loads more people to help us make our vision a reality.

At Octopus Energy Services we are the powerhouse that installs Low Carbon Technology in homes across the UK. Our team of thousands of engineers are specialists in delivering Smart Metres, Solar PV, EV chargers and Heat Pumps - to help transform UK households into the 100% green smart homes of the future. Our team is at the forefront of delivering the incredible customer experience that Octopus prides itself on.

Octopus Energy Services is growing incredibly quickly.  We’re focused on delivering great service to customers today while also building the tech and processes to scale into the future.

We're looking for a GM Workforce Capacity with a passion for renewable energy, customer service, technology and the mission to decarbonise the energy sector.

The greatest asset to our business is the incredible talent that delivers our products. We have enormous ambitions - to install low carbon tech in tens of thousands of homes across the UK every year. Key to achieving this is ensuring that we have the highly trained teams to deliver - now and into the future.

If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you.

Are you ready for a career with us? We want to ensure you have all the tools and environment you need to unleash your potential. Need any specific accommodations? Whether you require specific accommodations or have a unique preference, let us know, and we'll do what we can to customise your interview process for comfort and maximum magic!

Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply to a role unless they meet 100% of the job requirements. Whoever you are, if you like one of our jobs, we encourage you to apply as you might just be the candidate we hire. Across Octopus, we're looking for genuinely decent people who are honest and empathetic. Our people are our strongest asset and the unique skills and perspectives people bring to the team are the driving force of our success. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected attribute. Our commitment is to provide equal opportunities, an inclusive work environment, and fairness for everyone.

What you'll do...

  • Running our Workforce Capacity as a business within our business. You will be responsible for everything linked to attracting, assessing, recruiting, training developing and retaining the great talent we need to unlock rapid, quality growth
  • Setting our long term talent attraction and skills strategy - including multi year budget allocation
  • Working with cross functional leadership (Operations, Finance, Tech & Product, Marketing) to deliver against the requirements of the wider organisation
  • Managing a large multi-skilled organisation - challenging everyone to think big, test new approaches and move fast
  • Owning market analysis to understand the availability of labour (now and projected) in order to build a sustainable pipeline of skilled and unskilled talent to meet our long term growth objectives
  • Building the physical infrastructure to deliver a nationwide skills academy which meets the needs of the business - continuously developing to anticipate and address future skills gaps
  • Create and drive the vision to position Octopus as a leading skills provider in the UK and creating brilliant skills opportunities for people across a diverse range of backgrounds (particularly backgrounds which are underrepresented in today’s electrician and heating labour markets)
  • Developing a compelling employee value proposition that reflects the elements that attract great talent to working with Octopus (including compensation framework, benefits offering, training and development opportunities)
  • Working with the Data Science team to continually iterate and improve our supply and training forecasting tools
  • Working with tech and product, as well as external suppliers to identify and build the systems and tooling to make this organisation scale effectively
  • What you'll need...

  • Experience of running large, multi functional teams (familiarity with field based / remote organisations is a plus)
  • Experience working in a hyper-growth, tech enabled environment - with hands-on experience working closely with tech and product development
  • Experience managing teams in the development and delivery of successful large scale campaigns
  • Experience in managing large real estate projects including sourcing and operationalising large sites
  • Experience in the development and delivery of multi functional operations teams
  • A track record of working within complex regulatory environments and developing scalable processes which adhere to compliance standards.
  • The ability to synthesise complex analysis (often with missing or imperfect information) to enable teams to define the best route forward.
  • A passion for prioritisation to drive the greatest impact for the organisation
  • Comfort with getting up to speed on technical issues and complex products. This role will manage a large group of technical specialists - without necessarily having that background yourself
  • Why else you'll love it here

  • Wondering what the salary for this role is? Just ask us! On a call with one of our recruiters it's something we always cover as we genuinely want to match your experience with the correct salary. The reason why we don't advertise is because we honestly have a degree of flexibility and would never want salary to be a reason why someone doesn't apply to Octopus - what's more important to us is finding the right octofit!
  • Octopus Energy is a unique culture. An organisation where people learn, decide, and build quicker.
