Job Summary:

Role  will report to Lilium’s cofounder Daniel Wiegand who is seeking a Cell Scientist with a strong engineering background to join our Innovation & Future Technology team.

This position presents an opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation cell technologies. As the pioneer in this role, you will spearhead the development of advanced cell technology that will shape the future of eVTOL industry. You will work closely with various departments, including Cell Technology, Procurement, Testing, and Manufacturing, playing a critical role in driving innovation and enhancing our battery capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive research and analysis of the battery industry, with a particular emphasis on different cell chemistries, focusing on Li-Ion technology.
  • Present research and analysis to the Senior Leadership team in the clear and business-oriented manner.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and exhibitions to building long-lasting valuable connections with leading experts and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with potential suppliers to foster partnerships and jointly develop cutting-edge cell technologies.
  • Design and execute comprehensive testing protocols in collaboration with our battery test team to evaluate the performance and reliability of batteries.

Requirements:

  • Master's, or Ph.D. degree in a electro-chemistry or material science field.
  • Additional business education considered as a big plus.
  • Proven experience in cell production or manufacturing processes, with a solid understanding of the associated challenges and considerations.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of electro-chemistry principles and their application in cell technology.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and extract pertinent information from diverse sources.
  • Flexibility to work remotely while also being available for on-site visits to our facilities in Germany to comply with tax and legal requirements.
