The Floor Supervisor sets the tone of the floor culture and manages the activities of the following departments: Fermentation, Midstream and Downstream. The primary goal of this position is to monitor the workflow of the entire production floor to achieve manufacturing goals. Safely and effectively train operators on how to operate equipment and/or machinery. The Floor Supervisor must comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and local/federal regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead entire shift operations while delivering safety, quality and operational goals
  • Cross trains operators and/or recommends cross training for personnel development 
  • Manages the staffing, training and coaching of all operators on their shift
  • Ensures operational targets are met throughout the day and troubleshoots any issues if it is not
  • Completes investigations in regard to operational, safety or quality failures
  • Implements any SOPs, OPLs or trainings existing and new
  • Initiate and lead process improvement projects
  • Communicates priorities and daily goals of the Production Manager to floor staff
  • Works closely with maintenance and engineering to troubleshoot mechanical problems
  • Contributes to performance reviews for all operators
  • Reviews electronic batch records and pre/post inspections daily to ensure proper submission
  • Creates and manages 5S assignments for operators on days of low/no manufacturing activities
  • Makes recommendations for employee discipline  (i.e. write-ups, early dismissal, etc)
  • Initiates and maintains positive relationships with department leads, management and operators in an effort to build a strong cohesive team
  • Cultivates a culture of contaminant mitigation (i.e. cleanliness, proper glove use, sterilization of equipment, etc.)

  • Job Skills and Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience in a GMP production environment
  • Two (2) year of Fermentation experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours daily
  • Ability to push/pull over 55 pounds
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Ability to wear PPE (personal protection equipment) – required and provided
  • Ability to work weekends as dictated by shift rotation
  • Ability to delegate tasks to operators
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures or humidity conditions
