About the company:
As a Flight Dynamics Engineer you will be responsible for modelling & analysis of aircraft aeromechanics from conceptual design, aircraft simulation and through to flight test.
You will contribute towards the development of our tools, methods, and processes in the flight dynamics domain as well as developing & supporting Vertical’s simulation and flight test activities at all stages from planning through to post-flight analysis & reporting.
You will be working closely with a variety of engineering teams, however your main stakeholders will be the flight dynamics, simulation, aeromechanics and flight test teams. You will be working collaboratively with colleagues on a range of activities from conceptual requirement definition through to flight test.
You will report directly into the Flight Dynamics IPT Lead and be a key member of the Flight Dynamics team, supporting the continued development of our prototype & VX4 aircraft via in-house expertise, specialist knowledge, capabilities, and toolsets.
We want you to be successful in your role and so in order to achieve this, you will need to have proven knowledge of fixed-wing and/or rotary-wing flight dynamics, stability, and control. Additionally, you will require practical problem-solving skills with the ability to apply your knowledge to vehicles of novel design and operational characteristics.
You will ideally be proficient in using MATLAB/Simulink and have some experience of aircraft simulation modelling and analysis codes (e.g. Flightlab, CAMRAD, AVL). Flight test experience and understanding of flight test instrumentation as well as expertise in Requirement Management would be advantageous however not essential. Ideally you will have gained this experience from the Aerospace/Aeronautical field or from other related industries.
