Your role and your team:

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Flight Control Law Engineer with aircraft design experience to join our innovative team and thus shape the future of urban e-mobility. In this position you will become part of our talented flight mechanics team with direct report to our flight control laws lead. Your role will be focused on the development, (flight) testing, and certification of the core of the flight control system. As a senior flight control law engineer you will leverage your experience for the certification of Lilium’s flight control laws and for the guidance of team members with less experience.

Your Day to Day:

  • Full cycle of flight control laws development activities from requirements flown down and validation, implementation and testing and integration
  • Execution of flight control laws work packages in agile project setup
  • Interfacing with handling qualities and flight testing team on (piloted) testing of control laws baselines
  • Close interaction with the aerodynamic design and flight dynamics modelling team on aerodynamic characterization and modelling for flight control development
  • Contribution to analyses and trade-off studies together with chief engineering team
  • Close interaction with flight control system and software teams on target integration and testing
  • Support of safety assessment activities on flight control system and aircraft level
  • Coaching of less experienced team members
  • Actively shaping the processes and frameworks of the flight control law team
  • Ad-hoc tasks and troubleshooting 

Your Profile:

  • M. Sc. in aeronautical engineering or similar degree
  • Min. 5 years of professional experience in flight control law development for fly-by-wire systems
  • In depth experience with flight control development of highly augmented aircraft configurations
  • Strong background in ARP 4751A and Do-178C
  • Experience with model-based design (Do-331) is a plus
  • Very good skills in Matlab/Simulink
  • Strong motivation to help build and shape your organization, structures and processes
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously
  • Target-oriented, driven workstyle with analytic problem solving skills required
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial
