At Octopus Energy Services, we're committed to leading the charge in the global renewable energy revolution. We are expanding our team to support the installation and logistics operations related to in-home technologies, such as low carbon heating and solar power.

We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to join our mission. We are growing our Fleet of vans used by our engineers, logistics operations and company cars in a big big way this year.  Our fleet team plays a crucial role in getting our amazing people into the right vehicles to provide exceptional customer experiences. The growth of our business demands the need for the right person to come and help us expand our fleet to levels we never even dreamed of previously.

Embark on a mission to orchestrate and elevate the performance of our fleet of vehicles. We're not just managing vehicles or just giving the right tools to those who are providing amazing customer service; we're driving safety, sustainability, efficiency, and innovation. Your purpose is to ensure our fleet operates seamlessly, drive a huge growth in our fleet quantity and leave an eco-conscious footprint in every mile.

This central role is flexible in where it will be based, will require some travel to our locations in Hinckley and Slough and occasionally to other key sites across the UK.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the efficient management of the companies fleet of vehicles
  • Oversee the procurement, maintenance and disposal of vehicles to ensure the fleet meets operational requirements and regulatory standards
  • Implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend the life of the fleet
  • Responsible to deliver own fleet renewal program
  • Captain initiatives to enhance the sustainability and environmental friendliness of our fleet.
  • Spearhead initiatives to enhance the efficiency and eco-friendliness of our vehicle fleet.
  • Implement strategies for zero-emission transportation and sustainable practices.
  • Embrace cutting-edge tracking and analytics tools to guide our fleet into the future.
  • Embrace technology to optimize vehicle utilization, reduce carbon footprints, and elevate our operational efficiency.
  • Keep abreast of environmental standards, driving our commitment to a cleaner, greener future.
  • Navigate regulations with agility, ensuring our fleet operates in a safe and environmentally compliant way.
  • Lead cost-conscious initiatives without compromising on our commitment to quality, service and sustainability.
  • Nurture the skills of the team, creating a vibrant community that propels Octopus Energy Services to new heights.
  • What you'll need

  • A degree in logistics, transport management or a related field.
  • Experience in fleet management or a related role within the logistics sector.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to managing challenges.
  • Good communication skill and the ability to work calmly under pressure 
  • Ability to work accurately and to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail. 
  • A proactive/can do attitude to work and ability to work on own initiative. 
  • The ability to effectively prioritise your workload and build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and external to the business. 
  • Familiarity of Vehicle Telematics systems and other Fleet Management software 
  • Holds or happy to work towards a FORS Practitioner Qualification  
  • Ability to work at pace, handle multiple projects and challenges, and organize others to maintain momentum and progress.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, ability to use data effectively, and present information clearly.

  • Ability to work remotely and to travel regularly across the UK to various sites
