ABOUT THE POSITION
Fluence seeks a highly talented engineer with a background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) fire and plume dispersion modeling.
Responsibilities:
-Maintain Fluence’s leadership in BESS safety by performing fire modeling work and thermal event safety analysis. Document simulation results and provide directions for achieving required fire safety at unit and site levels.
-Be current with compliance codes and ensure that designs meet or exceed product and certification requirements and support the certification efforts with analysis as
required.
-Be part of an interdisciplinary product development team and proactively
communicate ideas to enhance overall fire safety through intelligent design and use of industry-leading fire systems.
-Interact with the sales team, customers, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and respond to issues related to the fire safety of Fluence products and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in using CFD simulation tools such as Pyrosim, fire dynamics simulator(FDS), or other equivalent tools or 5+ years experience in conducting CFD simulations in Ansys Fluent, COMSOL, Converge CFD, or StarCCM+ focusing on combustion and heat transfer modeling.Demonstrated experience building 1D or lumped thermal models to analyze thermal profiles and heat loads on solid surfaces. Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection and Safety Engineering. Knowledge of fire codes, fire suppression, and fire protection and detection system is a huge plus. Experience in experimental work relating to instrumentation and using sensors such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, heat flux gauges, calorimeters, and data acquisition devices is a plus.Strong analytical and communication skills are required.
