About the Role:
Crusoe is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Student to join our growing Power Project Execution team. This role will focus specifically on the power generation aspects of our large-scale data center projects, encompassing electrical, communication, controls and mechanical systems. You will be supporting the construction, commissioning and turnover of the project. This position requires a fundamental knowledge of engineering principles as well as a background in construction methodologies.
The Field Engineer Intern position will be resident at the construction project for the duration of the internship with possible occasional travel to the Denver or San Francisco offices. The responsibilities listed below will be performed as part of the onsite Construction Management and Inspection team.
What You’ll Be Working On:
Support the Project Execution team in the execution of power generation projects, from design through turnover to Operations.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering firms, contractors, and vendors, to ensure project success.
Review contractor / vendor submittals, RFI’s and procedures as well as other project documentation.
Support the Project / Construction Manager in monitoring project budgets and schedules, contributing to delivering projects on time and within budget.
Monitor construction progress against set milestones and track change orders against the same.
Monitor project construction progress and identify potential risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies as needed.
Monitor Contractor quality of workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
Support the commissioning and testing of plant systems, ensuring proper operation and performance.
Contribute to the development of engineering, construction and commissioning standards and procedures.
Foster a safe and collaborative work environment.
Review Commissioning documents for technical / practical acceptance
Review lift plans, flush plans, purge plans and other similar construction execution planning documents for technical, safety and practical acceptance
Coordinate the issuance and responses for Requests for Information (RFIs) and Field Engineering Directives (FEDs)
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Construction or Mechanical Engineering, or a related program at an accredited college or university graduating in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
A strong work ethic; an understanding that this position will involve a substantial amount of time outside, in Texas, during the summer.
Proficient in time management, able to plan their assigned work to be completed on time.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Safety and Compliance: This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required. Must be able to pass a background check.
As this role requires a significant amount of on-site work, candidates will be expected to be able to be able to:
Traverse uneven terrain
climb ladders, scaffolds and stairs
Lift moderate loads (up to 40 lbs)
While wearing appropriate clothing, spend significant amounts of their day exposed to atmospheric conditions (atmospheric temperatures including high heat and cold, rain, snow, etc.)
