KoBold Metals is a mineral exploration company – we explore for the metals we need for our transition to clean energy and electrification (e.g., lithium, nickel, cobalt, copper, rare earth elements). We have over 35 exploration projects, some of which we own outright and some in partnership with major mining and exploration companies.

Our team includes the best of the industry in exploration geoscience, data science, software engineering, and business personnel. KoBold’s world-renowned geoscientists have made nearly 20 discoveries. They work on joint teams with outstanding data scientists, who have PhDs in physics, math, materials science, and geophysics. And our technology backbone has been built from scratch by our team of software engineers who are alumni of top Silicon Valley tech companies.

About the position

KoBold is looking for highly motivated Geologist’s who will be part of our multidisciplinary exploration team, on a short term contract. In this role, you will be part of the core team responsible for performing geologic analysis and conducting field work on our properties. Working in tandem with one of KoBold’s Sr. Exploration Geologists, these roles will also work closely with our team of data scientists and software engineers to support development of our internal software tools and to evaluate prospects generated by our proprietary system.

These roles are short duration contracts, 12 months, with monthly field work rotation of 3 weeks on and 1 week off.

Responsibilities

The Geologist will:

• Compile and evaluate various datasets at regional to prospect scales and conduct assessments of exploration potential
• Review and evaluate geoscience data obtained whilst in the field
• Perform a range of geological analyses and work collaboratively with data scientists
• Contribute to the execution of field programs

Qualifications

A great Geologist candidate will have:

• An advanced degree in geoscience
• A minimum of 2 years of field experience is strongly preferred
• An excellent understanding of geologic fundamentals, ore systems, and mineral exploration
• Experience evaluating ore-deposit prospectivity using field techniques and geospatial software, and an interest in doing both field and desktop work
• Insatiable intellectual curiosity

It is preferred but not required to have:

• Proficiency in QGIS, and Leapfrog
• Experience with magmatic sulfide, sediment-hosted copper systems, or lithium pegmatite systems.
