Experimental Plasma Physicist

In this unique role, you will collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers to design, implement and test devices and technologies that will improve fusion plasma performance. Your participation and contribution to other relevant Helion activities are encouraged.

What you’ll be doing: 

• Manage experimental diagnostic projects, validate key plasma physics concepts, and present scientific results during internal meetings
• Perform hands-on routine operation and maintenance of various diagnostic equipment such as:
• Spectroscopy
• Laser interferometry
• Magnetic probes
• Bolometers
• Develop data analysis programs that require complex computational calculations using experimental data
• Design computer simulations for investigative data analysis that interprets physical results
• Collaborate with other scientists in the design, development, and testing of experimental instrumentation, and procedures

About You:

• Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering, or related physical science discipline
• Demonstrates success in designing and building plasma diagnostics and plasma sources
• Interprets electrical equivalent circuits that represent the behavior of a device
• Devises and engineers electrical models such as LCR circuits
• Exhibits a strong background in hands-on experimental plasma diagnostics while maintaining a   knowledgeable background in the underlying physics
• Excellent communication skills as evidenced by previous reports, papers, and presentations

Per Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act the range for this position is $100k-177k. Actual salary is based on education, experience, and other qualifying skill sets.
