Your role and your team: 

As a Validation & Verification Engineer working with the Environmental Control System (ECS) Design team, you will be part of the Energy IPT (Integrated Project Team). The Energy IPT is responsible for the design and development of various systems, sub-systems and components related to storage and management of energy.

In this role you will report directly to the Engineering Manager – Verification and Certification (Functional Manager) and you will be deployed within the ECS Team, where you will work under guidance of the ECS Technical Lead.

You will perform various duties within the team, related to early concept through to detailed design, testing and into serial production; however, your primary focus will be on the system and requirements Verification & Validation (V&V).

The is a key role, and the tasks that you will be involved in, will contribute significantly in bringing our innovative aircraft to life.

Your Day to Day: 

  • Develop and maintain the ECS V&V Strategy and Plan.
  • Specification and support of system validation and verification according to acceptable means of compliance in accordance with ARP4754A, DO-160.
  • Definition, validation and management of system, subsystem, and component requirements.
  • Develop and maintain V&V processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of integration test processes and procedures regarding the ECS and all interfacing systems/structures.
  • Negotiate with certification authorities for the definition of Means of Compliance, qualification and certification activities.
  • Provide support and guidance to the IPT on certification related matters, with particular focus on Means of Compliance and testing activities.
  • Support the development of the Environmental Control System, comprising of parts and assemblies, throughout their lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain system test plans.
  • Develop and maintain certification related documentation in close collaboration with the relevant CVE.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally within the Energy IPT, and across the broader organization regarding design, interfaces, and configuration management.

Your Profile:

  • University degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (MSc/M.Eng preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the aerospace industry is required.
  • Experience developing and working to system requirements is essential.
  • Experience in planning, developing and managing V&V activities is essential.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language is beneficial.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Environmental Control Systems, thermal management, and related design principles is required.
  • Experience in developing and qualifying aircraft systems; preferably CS-E, CS/FAR-27 or CS/FAR-23, is required.
  • Experience in generating/approving EASA/FAA certification documentation, preferably CS/FAR-27 or CS/FAR-23 is required.
  • Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations is required.
  • Awareness of Part 21J contents and requirements is required.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance, as part of a collaborative, high performing team is required.
  • Strong motivation and passion to contribute to the development new technology in the context of an emerging market is required.
  • Target-oriented, driven work style with willingness to proactively overcome challenges in everyday activities and interaction with colleagues is required.
  • The ability to operate and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required.
  • Experience in capture tools, such as Siemens Polarion or IBM Rational Doors is required.
  • Experience in working with external suppliers and managing the interaction for the activities needed for Validation and Verification is beneficial.
  • Experience in interacting with certification authorities for the qualification and certification activities of aerospace systems is beneficial.
  • Experience with ARP4754A is beneficial.
