Engineering Process Director H/F

InnovaFeed is a biotech company that produces natural and sustainable ingredients for animal feed and plant nutrition from insect rearing (Hermetia illucens). 

We contribute to the growth of a high-quality fish farming sector by providing a new source of sustainable, natural and high-performance protein. We also produce high-quality insect oil than can be used in poultry and swine feed, as an alternative to imported oils. Our oil is rich in lauric acid, known for its anti-microbial properties. Finally, insect dejections are used as an organic fertilizer, closing the nitrogen loop in a circular way. 

InnovaFeeds’ innovating insect rearing process is deployed on an industrial scale to address the strain on natural resources in a responsible and sustainable way.

As the world leader in alternative animal proteins, Innovafeed contributes to the construction of a sustainable food system by developing a pioneering and innovative industry: the breeding and processing of insects (Hermetia Illucens fly).

- Dealing with global protein deficit by strengthening our food systems

- To have a positive overall environmental impact based on circular economy and inspired by natural food chains;

- To generate territorial economic dynamism : in order to feed and raise our larvaes, we are co-located with agro-industrial partners that provide us with co-products and low footprint energy.

 

Incorporated in 2016, Innovafeed manufactures and sells 3 different insect-based products:

· Insect protein for a more sustainable and qualitative aquaculture, especially for feeding salmon and trout 🐟

· Insect oil for feeding animals (like pig and poultry), in the context of sustainable farming respectful of animal welfare 🐤 

·  Insect feces used as an effective organic fertilizer 🌱

The mission of the engineering team is at the heart of Innovafeed's Industrial project. Its role is to design, build, start up InnovaFeed's production plants, as well as to continue to develop the latest and greatest technology to industrialize insect production.

Within the Engineering team, your role will be to: 

 

- Participate in the ambitious industrial deployment of Innovafeed in Europe and internationally ;

- Actively contribute to the industrialization of an innovative and disruptive production system, in order to help us achieve our ambitious large-scale impact goals;

- Reach a new horizon in vertical farming technology and efficiency.

 

More specifically, you will be responsible for: 

- Leading and developing a team of talented engineers. You will be in charge to continue to improve the team resilience, capabilities and capacity to support several large-scale industrial projects in parallel;

- Bringing vision and leadership to strengthen your team while contributing to the broader Engineering and InnovaFeed team;

- Supporting your team to manage complex engineering projects from A to Z on large scopes with a lot of autonomy. You will be on the front line in the design, realization and construction phases, up to th commissioning of the plant. You will actively contribute to the ramp up of the plants by supporting the production and maintenance teams. Our excellent project management is a key element in the success of InnovaFeed and in maintaining its rapid pace of deployment. Efficient coordination and interface management within the engineering team and more broadly within the Innovafeed teams are key to success;

- Making recommendations on which new technical solutions to develop and meet the challenges of insect farming and processing. Given the innovative nature of our business, your creativity, analytical skills and structuring of the thought process will be essential assets to achieve the best solutions. The design of the target process is a broad industrial approach that requires integrating the needs of all

stakeholders and aligning different constraints. This approach is done in close interaction with the R&D, Operational Performance and Operations teams. A successful technical process is one of the keys to large-scale industrial deployment;

- Within the framework of engineering projects, you will be in charge of the interface with external partners/suppliers. Your role will be to build trust relationship while systematically challenge and support them in the design of innovative, but robust solutions, process optimization by thinking outside the box, and project implementation.

You have a Master's degree and at least 5 years of experience in consulting or in industry with a strong interest in innovation and industrial process development. You are passionate about developing people in your team and around you. You have good interpersonal skills and enjoy being in contact with different stakeholders (service providers, operators, etc.).
