Internship Term: Summer 2023
Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between Fall 2023 through Fall 2025.

As a power electronics intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a world class team developing state-of-the-art power electronics for Rivian’s electric adventure vehicles. You will be given meaningful assignments which will contribute to the development of real-world products. You will interact and work with a seasoned engineering team. Assignments will involve a mixture of analysis as well as actual hands-on lab testing.
Responsibilities
- Work in lab to test and evaluate power electronics circuits
- Perform modeling and analysis to support design decisions and analyze circuits using Spice, Mathcad, PLECS, and other tools
- Report results to team in clear and concise manner
- Interact with component suppliers to in order to identify the best part for a specific application
- Interact and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Systems, Mechanical, Controls, and Software
- Debug issues and solve problems when they arise
Qualifications
- Currently working on Masters or PhD in electrical engineering, with emphasis on power electronics
- Understanding of power electronics fundamentals, including devices, topologies, analysis and simulation methods.
- Expertise in power electronics circuits and concepts
- Understanding of the key components: power semiconductors, inductors, transformers, capacitors
- Ability to review and understand electrical schematics and component datasheets
- Experience working in lab environment with oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters
- Comfortable working with high voltages and currents
- Experience using software tools such as Spice, Mathcad, and Matlab
