We are currently seeking a Battery Modeling Engineer to develop advanced performance, lifetime, and algorithm modeling. This position requires a creative and analytical mindset with experience in numerical analysis, data process, and code development. Our ideal candidate exhibits a self-motivated attitude with vigor and determination to accept new challenges and provide innovated solutions. A successful candidate should be a quick learner and detailed oriented. Candidates with fresh BS or MS degree and solid battery fundamental background are encouraged to apply.

The Role:

  • Develop data processing and numerical analysis algorithms to provide the insight of lithium-ion battery cell behavior
  • Develop mathematical models (physics-based and data driven based) to predict lithium ion battery performance including kinetic performance, life degradation, calendar aging, electrochemical and thermal response, and safety related behavior
  • Formulate and execute designs of experiments to acquire sufficient data to train, validate, and test the battery models
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, test, and maintain your model
  • Deliver documents related to model and algorithm development
  • Collaborate with battery team to determine and achieve battery performance and lifetime targets
  • Qualifications:

  • New Graduates to 3 years' experience
  • Fundamental knowledge of lithium-ion cell electrochemistries and mechanisms
  • Experienced in creating physics-based and data driven based models for electrochemical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical applications
  • Familiar with computer language, numerical analysis, and data processing
  • Experience in writing efficient code to process and analyze large data sets
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude
  • Comfortable with initiating and taking ownership of projects
  • Preferred:

  • Experienced in using physics-based package (COMSOL, Ansys, etc.) for thermal/electrochemical/mechanical applications
  • Experienced in developing data driven based model 
  • Skilled in code developing tools such as Python or Matlab 
  • Strong understanding of design of experiment and data analysis
  • Good mathematical knowledge and experience in statistical analysis, optimization, machine learning, and deep learning tools
  • Candidates with successful multidisciplinary work record or education background 
  • Education:

  • BS or MS degree in EE, ME, CS, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Materials or similar degree or equivalent work experience
