What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the development of the high-volume Electric Engine and Inverter production system, including the overall layout of the production cells and new manufacturing facility
  • Lead a cross functional team of engineers with diverse backgrounds in Manufacturing Engineering (ME), and Automation Engineering focused on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), manufacturing process development, and production support
  • Apply knowledge of electric motors, inverters and manufacturing process to collaborate and influence our multidisciplinary Product Design Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Facilities teams in the development of a new Electric Motor and Inverter for an eVTOL aircraft
  • Work in a fast paced and flexible environment
  • Lead the development of the production system design for an Electric Engine for an eVTOL aircraft
  • Manage tooling and equipment suppliers and integrators through production system design and implementation
  • Oversee Final Acceptance Testing of manufacturing equipment
  • Support process failure mode and analysis (PFMEA) for the Engine production system
  • Support supply chain development and procurement
  • Support first unit builds and testing of the production system
  • Support manufacturing on the shop floor 
  • Validates and ensures production readiness of solutions to complex problems
  • Develops and implements cost effective and improved processes for Lean production and tooling methodologies
  • Analyzes design/build concepts to evaluate a producible design/build definition, and investigates alternative solutions to meet producibility requirements
  • Assists in providing input to the program plan to ensure that producibility activities and deliverables are incorporated
  • Be a collaborative partner who drives change and establishes standardization of ME deliverables in order to achieve functional excellence
  • Perform technical data analysis related to product workflow, manpower forecasting, and manufacturing performance
  • Develop, coach and mentor ME’s to ensure they understand roles & responsibilities, provide performance feedback, develop a career roadmap and partner with them on their career aspirations
  • Establish KPIs in order to drive performance management, identify trends and mitigate risks, and support manufacturing as well as other departments 
  • Leads continuous improvement activities 
  • Partner with Industrial Engineering to keep track of all manufacturing crew loads and standards and work with the manufacturing team to improve efficiency and streamline processes
  • Build and recruit your team to meet defined staffing and budget requirements
  • Collaborate with quality to ensure inspection methods are defined and standards are established
  • Plan and assign work strategies in the production schedule that covers maintenance of process equipment and inspection at proper intervals
  • Assist with equipment installations and project planning

 

What you need: (degrees, skills, years of experience, etc.)

  • BS or MS Degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Significant experience with electric engines
  • 7+ years experience developing automotive or aerospace products
  • 4+ years experience leading a Manufacturing Engineering team
  • Manufacturing Engineering and/or Tool/Automation Engineering experience
  • Manufacturing support experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proven track record as an inspirational leader who invests and develops others
  • Ability to understand, apply and implement concepts and lean tools 
  • Experience developing production lines from prototype to mass production
  • Demonstrate potential to design, analyze and implement industrial engineering techniques
  • Experience in automation and robotics

  • FAR 23 experience
  • Part 21 experience
  • Working under an FAA Production Certificate
  • Standing up a new production facility
