As an engineer within the team, you will be responsible for a project, ensuring that the IDU delivers
the required attributes, reliability, and robustness. This will include working with vehicle teams to
understand the customer requirements, working within the IDU team to ensure that an optimised
and robust system is developed to target, supporting simulation and validation activities and co-
ordinating DFMEA activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage requirements decomposition from vehicle to component level on multiple programs
  • Responsible for all interfaces both within the drive unit and between the drive unit and vehicle, ensuring all interfaces are defined and agreed by all members.
  • Review component level trade-offs within the drive unit ensuring a harmonised and optimised system is developed without compromising high level targets.
  • Ensure Hardware trees, Boundary Diagrams, P diagrams, Robustness Checklist are all kept up to date.
  • Compile FMEA for drive unit and guide the engineering effort.
  • Develop data entry - Output and reports for the teams drive unit Architecture models.
  • Linking to Costing software, FMEA etc.
  • Provide integrated solution proposals for complex, multi-domain engineering problems.
  • Investigate new technologies, create concepts, and evaluate them for upcoming team projects.
  • Required Expertise and Skills:

  • Degree in electrical/mechanical/mechatronics engineering or similar.
  • Previous experience working on electrified powertrains desirable.
  • Willingness to work in a challenging fast-moving environment.
  • A good understanding of product development processes.
  • Previous experience working within a team to resolve business, technical and process issues.
  • Experienced with Model Based Design tools (Matlab, Simulink, Simscape etc).
  • Good understanding of systems engineering and functional decomposition.
  • Good understanding of six sigma tools and methodologies.
  • Able to command a meeting ensuring the agenda is met.
  • Excellent communication skills, good team player.
  • Desire to find solutions in challenging problems.
  • Able to cope under pressure.
  • Self-motivated.
