ICON is looking for an Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Program Manager to provide dedicated safety expertise and partnership for ICON’s Prime team. The EHS Program Manager is responsible for engaging with business unit leadership and overseeing all EH&S compliance and risk management programs within the assigned units. The ideal candidate has deep military construction experience combined with comfort with novel and large technology being deployed at scale.  This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX campus, and will require up to 25% travel outside of the Austin area to various ICON’s build sites to support operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage EHS programs and operations for ICON’s residential, commercial and defense construction projects both in the field and in the lab.  
  • Partner with the EHS Program leader for technology, manufacturing and G&A functions to develop, implement, and maintain ICON’s Health and Safety policies, plans, and procedures and ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal EH&S regulations.
  • Serve as main EHS point of contact for government contracts requiring specialized safety activities.
  • Select and oversee SSHOs for government construction projects.
  • Serve as a resource to business unit managers and provide guidance, assistance, and direction regarding EHS requirements.
  • Review new processes and equipment to manage EH&S risks.
  • Participate in internal safety committees to drive engagement and EHS outcomes. 
  • Drive the review process for high-hazard work prior to execution including critical lifts, confined space entries, Lockout/Tagout, pressure testing, fall protection plans, etc.
  • Regularly track and report on company safety metrics and support the preparation of all regular annual OSHA logs.
  • Review Job Safety Assessment and Pre-Task plans to ensure tasks, hazards, and mitigations are in alignment with the work being performed.
  • Lead and document incident investigations to determine root causes, prevention, and corrective measures.
  • Perform frequent combined safety and environmental inspections and procedural audits in the field and have the skills, knowledge, and take immediate corrective action if required.
  • Present regular updates to unit leadership including sharing EH&S priorities, project, updates, incidents, and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Source and coordinate EH&S training.
  • Support the management of the EH&S budget.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of safety experience within the construction field. 
  • EM 385-1-1 certification plus one or more of the following certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP); or Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST).
  • Advanced knowledge and practice with OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, NFPA regulations and ISO and ANSI standards.
  • Expertise in designing, writing, and implementing health and safety programs, policies, and procedures including but not limited to: Emergency Action Plan, Hazard Communication, Chemical Hygiene, Personal Protective Equipment, Hearing
  • Conservation, Working at Height, Confined Space, Control of Hazardous Energy, Electrical Safety, Radiation Safety, Respiratory Protection, Rigging & Lifting, Powered Industrial Trucks, and Contractor Safety.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and interface with team members.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field.
