The EHS Manager – Water and Waste Programs will assist in the management of all wastes and materials for disposal or reclaim, waste water treatment operation, and stormwater programs.

 

The EHS Manager – Water and Waste Programs role must be familiar or have the ability to learn RCRA and Sustainable waste practices related to Automotive Manufacturing.  Familiarity with Storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), Spill control and countermeasure (SPCC),  NPDES permitting, and Waste Water Treatment Operations. This role will require training and certification in  RCRA (Resource Conservation and Resources Act – Hazardous Waste) Hazardous Waste Handling and DOT (Department of Transportation) Hazardous Materials shipping. SWPPP, SPCC, and Class K Industrial Waste Water Operator in Illinois. 

 

Responsibilities

Waste Program Duties:

  • Ensure Compliance with RCRA and DOT requirements.
  • Work with the Enterprise Total Waste Management team on various projects.
  • Maintain Recordkeeping to support RCRA compliance and Scrap asset disposition.
  • Work with Gensuite Database for Waste Tracker, Inspection, and Incident management tracking applications.
  • Maintain data using log sheets and/or software.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions and procedures for Waste Handling.
  • Track and order supplies as needed to manage waste streams.
  • Support RCRA and DOT training for staff and production floor.
  • Work with Logistics and TWM teams to schedule shipments at appropriate times.
  • Operation of Fork Lift, tugger and/or pallet jack to support waste handling team, if needed.
  • Ensure organization of storage areas, both line side and waste storage.
  • Other related duties as needed.

Water Program Duties:

  • Sampling of Waste Water and Stormwater streams and outfalls.
  • Recording keeping of test results and quality controls.
  • Development and maintenance of procedures and work instructions related to laboratory analysis and regulatory compliance.
  • Inspections and monitoring of stormwater and water systems.
  • Maintain SPCC, SWPPP, and POTW discharge plans.
  • Participate with cross functional teams in troubleshooting regarding the operation of the Waste Water treatment plant
  • Continuous Improvement of Waste Water treatment and Water systems.
  • Other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Health & Safety, Ind Technology, or similar degrees preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience in EHS in an industrial environment
  • Material Handling experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Chemistry and/or Hazardous Material Handling.
  • Familiarity with DOT, RCRA, NPDES regulations.
  • Ability to understand and properly implement Federal and State Regulations.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products; including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Gensuite and Benchmark experience preferred.
