Who You Are

As Sila’s R&D Software Systems Leader, you’re an inspiring leader in establishing and driving best practices in modern, R&D laboratory environments. You partner with our Battery & Research leaders to design, develop and procure highly efficient lab operations software systems. In addition to lab operations, R&D Software Systems includes a focus on image processing and other complex algorithms for analyzing data and accelerating innovation in the battery materials domain. You understand and apply modern leadership principles and are very proficient in building/leading impactful teams.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the R&D software systems team
  • Partner with key peers to enhance Sila’s lab information management system.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Manufacturing Software Systems and the Systems Engineering teams to define software development policies and approaches for all Sila software
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard extraordinary new Silazens to expand our team’s bandwidth, capabilities, and diversity.
  • Partner with the Systems & IT teams as well as the overall business to lead technology risks and maintain business continuity & disaster recovery plans

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability leading and building enterprise software engineering teams in fast-paced, rapidly growing environments
  • 5+ years with Python and microservices architectures
  • B.S. or higher in computer science or related field
  • Experience with lab information management systems (LIMS) that tightly integrate with hardware instruments
  • Passion for hiring and developing diverse talent
  • Exceptional collaboration, communication and leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly master new technologies and drive improvement using a data/metrics driven approach
  • Experience with modern, web-app development frameworks such as Python microservice architectures in AWS

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
  • Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
  • Move items up to 50 lbs with the assistance of lift equipment and carts
  • Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time #LI-FM1
