ICON is looking for a hard-working, creative, and team-oriented problem solver to serve as the Director of Physical Infrastructure for a rapidly developing infrastructure team. You’re passionate about building and executing new facility buildout strategies and have a deep interest in the following subjects: housing, construction, real estate, robotics, technology, space, & defense. You’re a natural leader, adept at creating strategy decks, experienced selling and negotiating with stakeholders, and are eager to learn about creating and supporting a rapidly developing physical infrastructure. This role reports to the SVP of Operations and is based in our Austin, TX campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, prepare, and explain the annual facility budget, quarterly forecasts, and business plans.
  • Assist in development of capital budgets for various properties, including expansion, buildout, maintenance, improvement, and cost reduction initiatives for all ICON facilities.
  • Develop the strategy for collection, analysis, and reporting of metrics by the physical infrastructure team.
  • Review objectives and key results within ICON to identify service gaps, recurring issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Direct the physical infrastructure team in the construction, acquisition, and maintenance programs relating to the conditions and appearance of the facilities and assets.
  • Hire and develop a team of physical infrastructure direct reports. 
  • Oversee local project management including collecting bids, building schedules, and communicating outcomes to various stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with corporate functions to optimize new product delivery, and service schedules. 
  • Manage service contracts to ensure cost efficiency. 
  • Complete ownership of all aspects related to ongoing performance and financial reviews, conducting requests for purchase, and ensuring payments and invoicing match contract pricing.
  • Implement contract review programs to assess client, tenant, and occupant needs to ensure problems are being solved to the benefit of ICON.
  • Manage and drive customer focus within all areas of operational activities and ensure that effective relationships are maintained with key clients.
  • Drive innovation through the implementing of best practices, operational and service efficiency, as well as the identification of industry trends and tools that would contribute to our operational excellence goals.
  • Communicate across all levels of the organization to gather feedback, assess needs, and execute projects in both a timely and budget conscious manner.
  • Implement Lean Management protocols and produce standard operating procedures for the physical infrastructure team. 
  • Creating design and experience standards across all properties to define icon spaces, preferred vendors, materials, approaches, and aesthetics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors in a relevant field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 10+ years of experience working in physical infrastructure, construction, or facilities management.
  • 7+ years of experience with financial analysis and budgeting related to project management and facilities operations.
  • Superior understanding of construction schedules, facility operations, technology, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Highly adaptable, comfortable with change and ambiguity, capable of quickly rallying teams and resources.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications. 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to think strategically to analyze the needs of the business and define solutions.
  • Ability to navigate between strategic work and tactical execution.
  • Ability to be available for after hours or pre-hours on occasion.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Management consulting experience.
  • Open-mindedness and a collaborative spirit.
  • Fast growing startup experience.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Facilities management credentials (IFMA/BOMI) a plus.
  • Hospitality experience is a plus.
