Role Description
Form Energy is looking for an experienced manufacturing engineering leader to develop the cell and module (pack) assembly process for Form batteries. The individual will be responsible for building a team of manufacturing engineers who can imagine and deliver scalable equipment sets and processes for making 100’s of MW’s per year of Fe-air batteries. This particular role is focused on final assembly of electrodes into battery cells, assembly of battery cells into modules and assembly of modules into enclosures. You will develop manual and semi-automated pilot line processes using in-house resources in close partnership with the design team while also working with external equipment supplies to deliver high volume, automated equipment sets to support commercialization of our product.

What You'll Do:

  • Build a great team
  • Define facility, headcount and space requirements for multiple generations of manufacturing lines across multiple sites
  • Work closely with the design teams and electrode manufacturing teams to integrate DfM feedback to continuously improve cost and quality
  • Develop pilot, low volume and high volume manufacturing equipment sets (sometimes in parallel)
  • Work with NPI teams to hand-off new equipment and processes to production operations

  • What You'll Bring:

  • B.S. or higher in engineering or physical science(s)
  • 10 years of experience (5 in a leadership role)
  • 5 - 10 years manufacturing and assembly experience of complex electromechanical products that rely on some core materials technology; experience should span both internally manufactured and contract manufactured assemblies, and include experience managing an operating line.
  • Experience manufacturing NPI and transition to high volume manufacturing 
  • Management of an operating low volume / NPI-focused manufacturing operation
  • Line design, installation, commissioning, and production ramp experience
  • Management of custom equipment design and development internally and/or with equipment suppliers
  • Demonstrated experience in driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality for complex electromechanical assemblies
  • Experience managing distributed teams (nationally, internationally)
