Director of IT

Job Description 

The IT Director will oversee all IT (Information Technology) functions in our company. You will oversee managing the company’s IT team (IT operations/Help Desk and Solutions) as well as work on the implementation of new IT systems and policies in support of Lilac’s business.  As a senior member of our staff you will be a trusted advisor to the executive leadership on all matters related to IT.  The ideal candidate will be experienced in creating and implementing IT policies and systems that will meet objectives while influencing and motivating those around you to adopt them. This role is preferred to be based in Oakland, CA, but is also open to candidates located in Fernley, NV, Salt Lake City, UT, or remote candidates.

The goal is to ensure IT systems and people are effective and functioning within the limits of budget, time and specifications of the company. 

Job Responsibilities 

• Manage and develop a team of [3] IT Operations and [1] IT Solutions professionals to deliver effective IT services for Lilac, including but not limited to: Help Desk, Asset Management (Hardware & Software), Information Security, Data Management, Network & infrastructure Solutions, scoping, impanation and management of SaaS projects, etc.  
• Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management 
• Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs and deliver solutions as appropriate 
• Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software 
• Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency 
• Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management 
• Control budget and report on expenditure 
• Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts 

Candidate Qualifications 

• 8+ years of experience working in IT operations, supervising technology teams, and overseeing large information technology projects. Proven experience as IT director or similar role is a plus 
• BSc/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; MSc/MA is a plus 
• Excellent understanding of computer systems, cyber-security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems 
• Experience in controlling information technology budget 
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills 
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization 
• Experience working for a high growth company rapidly scaling headcount and evolving IT needs 
• Experience working in an international organization

Compensation 

• Salary range: $175-$225k annually (commensurate with experience)
