The Field Service team within the Commercial Operations group at Form will be instrumental in the deployment, operations, and maintenance of Form's projects and will be invaluable in ensuring high product uptime and customer satisfaction in the market.
We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Commissioning and Field Service, overseeing all aspects of the commissioning, operations, and maintenance activities for our utility-scale energy storage projects. In this role, you will build and lead a world-class team of field service engineers and technicians responsible for system commissioning, post-installation service and technical issue resolution. You will be responsible for developing and implementing all field service strategy, processes, training programs, and operational procedures to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery. This is a critical leadership role to ensure the successful long-term operation of Form’s multi-day energy storage product. The ideal candidate should be comfortable communicating frequently with internal and external executive stakeholders and shall be capable of working cross-functionally to drive operational excellence.

Lead and grow the Commissioning and Field Service organization, including hiring, training, and managing field service managers, engineers, and technicians.
Develop and execute the commissioning playbook, ensuring a seamless transition from construction completion to COD.
Develop and execute the comprehensive O&M strategy, including operational standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance processes for commissioning and field service.
Own the MTTR and Availability metrics for commissioned systems, developing the preventative maintenance program and rapid response infrastructure to meet SLAs.
Hold full P&L responsibility for the field service organization, including the negotiation and execution of LTSAs and the management of Warranty and LD exposure.
Collaborate closely with Product Engineering, Product Management, and Manufacturing teams to provide crucial field feedback to inform product improvements including ease of commissioning and serviceability.
Oversee the development of technical documentation, including commissioning checklists, site acceptance test protocols, emergency response plans, O&M manuals, training materials, and certification programs for internal staff and external service partners.
Manage the commissioning and field service budget, spare parts inventory, service contracts, and external vendor relationships to optimize cost and service delivery.
Travel to project sites up to 40% of the time, often on short notice, to support critical deployments and field operations.
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in Commissioning, Field Service, Field Operations, or Technical Support for utility-scale energy, industrial, or complex electro-mechanical systems, with 4+ years managing a global or large regional team.
Demonstrated track record of building and scaling a commissioning or O&M organization, including defining metrics, setting up a NOC/ROC, implementing field ops management systems, and driving customer satisfaction.
Practical experience with energy storage systems, including power electronics, high-voltage systems, protective relaying, SCADA and grid support functionality.
Strong knowledge of relevant safety standards, industrial codes, and best practices for field operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance (e.g. OSHA, NFPA 70E).
Exceptional written and oral communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills with the ability to effectively manage customer and partner relationships.
Strategic and resourceful leader capable of driving cross-functional alignment and managing complex, time-critical field issues in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
