The Director of Information Technology (IT) Engineering Tools and Platforms is responsible for the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of the engineering systems that enable software, hardware, vehicle, and powertrain engineering teams to design and deliver Lucid’s electric vehicles and in vehicle software.
Serving as a senior business facing IT leader, this role partners closely with engineering executives to translate engineering priorities into scalable, high quality platform capabilities delivered through well-defined roadmaps, governance, and operational routines.
This role collaborates with IT Shared Services to deliver secure, reliable, and high performing engineering platforms that scale with Lucid’s IT ecosystem and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Partnership, Planning, and Enablement
- Serve as the primary IT partner for engineering systems used by software, hardware, vehicle, and powertrain engineering teams.
- Run regular planning sessions with engineering stakeholders to confirm priorities, roadmap, backlog, and delivery timelines.
- Translate engineering priorities into scalable, high quality engineering capabilities delivered against agreed timelines.
- Lead change planning, communication, and training to increase adoption and consistent usage practices.
- Track relevant trends in the automotive and electric vehicle market, and apply improvements that increase speed, quality, and consistency.
Own Engineering Tools Strategy and Operations
- Define a multi-year roadmap for engineering tools that aligns to engineering priorities and product delivery needs.
- Translate stakeholder needs into platform capabilities, enable capabilities, and measurable outcomes, and provide continuous improvements.
- Own administration, configuration, and support for engineering systems including Jira, Confluence, Jama and additional engineering tools. These tools may include:

- Source code management and code review tools
- Build and release automation tools
- Test planning and test case management tools
- Defect, risk, and change control tools
- Engineering analytics and reporting tools
- Product lifecycle and engineering data tools
- Engineering content management and collaboration tools
- Define and meet service level objectives for availability, performance, and support of engineering tools through proactive monitoring and disciplined operational routines.
Integrations and Operational Efficiency
- Collaborate with Integration partners to deliver integrations between engineering tools and enterprise systems using approved interfaces and secure methods.
- Reduce manual work by implementing automation rules, standard templates, runbooks, knowledge articles, and training content that enable self-service and consistent support.
- Improve data quality through validation rules, structured templates, and periodic audits.
Lead the Team and Vendor Ecosystem
- Set team goals and establish performance expectations tied to outcomes and service quality.
- Build a positive culture of ownership, documentation discipline, and customer-focused service.
- Manage budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, renewals, and support escalations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years leading engineering systems, product lifecycle management platforms, or CAD/CAE toolchains in a complex hardware‑software environment.
- Track record of stakeholder engagement with engineering executives; ability to translate program needs into platform roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in collaboration with IT Shared Services Leaders to deliver performant, secure workloads, working knowledge of high‑performance computing patterns and cost controls.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, including leading managers and building operational routines.
- Clear, direct communication; strong documentation; ability to lead through influence across functional boundaries.
- Demonstrated experience owning engineering tooling platforms such as 3DExperience, Catia, Jira, Confluence, Jama, including configuration, governance, and user support.
- Demonstrated experience owning additional engineering tools such as source code management, build and release automation, and test management platforms.
- Experience delivering integrations across tools using secure interfaces and automation methods.
- Experience defining governance standards that improve consistency, performance, and user experience for large user populations.
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, renewals, and software licensing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering management, business administration, information systems, or a related field.
- Experience supporting hardware and software product development organizations that build complex products, such as automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, energy systems, robotics, or medical devices.
- Experience supporting engineering teams delivering electric vehicle systems, embedded software, or connected product ecosystems.
- Experience improving requirements related to quality, review discipline, and traceability practices in requirements management platforms.
- Experience leading tool migrations, including planning, data mapping, user training, and cutover support.
- Relevant platform administration certifications or formal training for engineering tool ecosystems.
