Lucid Motors is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of General Assembly to lead and manage our multi-shift General Assembly Shop Operations. This position will be responsible for overseeing the entire General Assembly process to achieve production targets while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, cost, and process efficiency objectives. The Director will also be instrumental in driving operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the General Assembly Operations team, ensuring alignment with company goals and production objectives.

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of General Assembly processes, ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.

  • Focus on enhancing process efficiency, maintaining high-quality standards, controlling costs, and ensuring workplace safety.

  • Ensure the availability, maintenance, and effective use of all tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support process repeatability and consistent product quality.

  • Manage and develop personnel resources, including hiring, coaching, conducting performance reviews, setting clear targets, and addressing disciplinary actions when necessary.

  • Lead a cross-functional team to develop, implement, and sustain a cohesive manufacturing strategy that enhances the entire General Assembly process.

  • Drive profitability and operational excellence by leveraging Lean Manufacturing tools, including Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and related continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Ensure all equipment and resources are operational and sufficient to meet daily production goals consistently.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address and influence factors affecting the General Assembly process, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality product to downstream operations.

  • Assist in budget planning, manage costs effectively, and implement continuous improvement and corrective action plans.

  • Enforce and uphold Lucid Motors’ Controls and Equipment Specifications and Standards.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle design, manufacturing industry practices, and General Assembly operations.

  • In-depth understanding of production policies, principles, and procedures, with proven experience in optimizing process efficiency, quality, and safety.

  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing planning tools, including headcount planning, workstation layouts, and resource allocation.

  • Familiarity with General Assembly equipment requirements and the ability to collaborate effectively with manufacturing engineering teams in decision-making.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive operational excellence.

  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with a focus on achieving results.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of experience in General Assembly operations or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.

  • Previous experience in the electric vehicle or automotive manufacturing industry.

  • Strong budget management and financial planning experience.
