About This Role

Apeel is looking for a PR/Communications leader to drive our earned corporate and consumer messaging strategy, trade communications, and overall thought leadership. Reporting directly into our SVP of Marketing Sciences and working directly with Apeel’s CEO, founders, heads of sustainability, sales, and technology, this individual will be responsible for increasing Apeel’s reputation around the world. 

This person will be responsible for supporting our growing distribution and brand by implementing multinational communications that drive understanding and engagement with the support of an international PR agency. In addition, this individual will be responsible for defining and managing the Corporate Communications and Internal Communications function at Apeel over time. 

This role is ideal for a passionate storyteller that is motivated by our mission to work with nature to reduce waste and create abundance for all. Apeel’s brand and robust communications platforms require a strategic communications leader to maximize our impact in the US and EU. 

The ideal candidate will have a background working with purpose-driven brands, distilling information from corporate to scientific, building thought leadership platforms for executives, and generating excitement across multiple media types.  Experience working in a fast-paced, global organization is highly preferred. 

What You’ll Do

  • Own our communications strategy and narrative roadmap ensuring it's designed to amplify the awareness and advocacy of Apeel among customers, consumers, investors, and media and industry influencers.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to build communication strategies around Apeel’s increasing portfolio of plant-based protection and data-driven services that reduce waste in the supply chain and in consumers' homes.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive and creative external communications programs with our Marketing Sciences & PR agency team to increase overall awareness and preference for Apeel Protected Produce. 
  • Advise, collaborate and create communications on behalf of the leadership team focused on company goals and overall strategy.
  • Assist with key internal communications with Apeel Sciences customers, board members, and other stakeholders.
  • Continue to drive Apeel’s rich history of corporate awards and news coverage. 
  • Leverage social/digital technology to help connect our leaders with global employees and our community of advocates. Leveraging our owned channels, content, and product innovation to build thought-leadership profiles for key Apeel executives and employees. 
  • Identify and support integrated story-telling and creativity through the development of content and campaigns with the rest of the Marketing leadership team. 

 What You Bring

  • A minimum of 12+ years of recent communications or corporate communications, preferably in the food, sustainability, or high-tech industries
  • Educational background in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or similar
  • Extensive experience and reputation developing and executing successful communications campaigns
  • Strong executive communications experience supporting corporate functions within a growing global organization, and effectively  communicating with all levels of employees
  • Exceptional writing abilities, including spelling and grammar skills, with an editor’s eye for detail
  • Comfort and savvy managing sensitive information
  • A track record of using traditional and emerging communication tools and technologies across multiple locations and geographies
