Role Description
We are looking for a hands-on engineer to join our battery products cell engineering team. This team is responsible for testing and analyzing the electrochemical performance of the product cell to drive improvements to test stands, mechanical cell designs, and active materials. This role will be responsible for mechanical and electrochemical tests of cells and components and to design, qualify, and troubleshoot custom test stands. This role will also lead efforts to wrangle, standardize, and automate data from test protocols to support critical internal cell development. This role works closely with a talented group of mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, and battery engineers to improve cell performance and our testing capabilities. The ideal candidate will exhibit an ability to creatively solve challenges with a yes-if mentality, rigorously test electrochemical devices, and be a champion for safety in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive electrochemical testing on product-intent cells and modules by writing test scripts, troubleshooting and resolving failures, and maintaining devices on test
  • Wrangle and automate data analysis from test stands and electrochemical cells to enable data-based decision making
  • Document and present test plans and results to collaborative cross-functional team
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for test initiation, execution, and termination
  • Lead efforts to track performance using statistical analysis tools to identify cell and test stand variability
  • What You'll Bring:

  • BS required in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on testing experience with electrochemical or electromechanical devices
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python and/or MATLAB
  • Experience with statistical analysis software such as JMP or Minitab is a plus
  • Experience with data acquisition and wiring
  • Strong communication skills within a group of peers and broader organization including remote team members
  • Enjoys a fast paced work environment
  • Project management experiences are a plus
