Your role and your team:
You will report directly to the Manager of Software Products while allocated to the Designated Certification Specialist role.
As a DCS – Designated Certification Specialist engineer – you will be part of interdisciplinary IPTs (Integrated Project Team) responsible for leading and coordinating all IPT activities within the certification programme, related to EASA Panel 10 discipline focusing on software related aspects. You will have a close interface with the Office of Airworthiness, Certification Engineers and Software Leaders.
Your Day to Day:
· Assist in the development of integration, test processes and procedures that regard the software development process and the interfacing with certification authorities, as well as the certification office
· Coordination with Design Engineers, CVEs (Compliance Verification Engineer), and DAEs (Designated Airworthiness Engineer) for alignment on the most appropriate means of compliance and software verification strategy
· Planning and supporting Panel 10 Meetings with certification authorities
· Create and check certification documents and data.
· Support the negotiation with certification authorities for the definition of Means of Compliance, qualification, and software certification activities
· Provide guidance to the IPTs on certification related matters, with particular focus on Means of Compliance and testing activities needed for the System V&V plan related to the software aspects
· Create, maintain, and review the software plans and standards with accordance to DO-178C and DO-331 supplement
· Interact with several professional and departments, including design, testing and external suppliers, to proceed with the activities most relevant to the Software Verification Plan
· Generate and maintain Software Certification and Verification processes and procedures
· Ensuring flow-down of Certification Requirements into software processes and design.
Your Profile:
· Sc/M.Sc/M.Eng in System Engineering, Software Engineering
· At least 10 years of experience in airborne software development and processes, as per DO-178C and DO-331
· Demonstrable knowledge of the certification process within Aerospace
· Experience in planning, developing and managing V&V activities is required
· Experience in generating/approving EASA/FAA certification documentation, preferably CS/FAR-25 or CS/FAR-23 is required
· Awareness of EASA Special Condition for VTOL and Means of Compliance if required
· Previous participation in Software SOI’s-1 to 4 is required
· Experience in working with external suppliers and managing the interaction for the activities needed for Validation and Verification is required
· Experience in interacting with certification authorities for certification activities of aerospace systems is required
· Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations is required
· Experience with ARP4754A and DO-178C is required
· Experience with DO-331 is beneficial
· High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously is required
· Awareness of EASA Part 21J contents and requirements is beneficial
· Strong motivation and passion to contribute developing a new technology and bringing it to the market
· Target-oriented, driven work style with willingness to proactively overcome impediments in everyday activities and interaction with colleagues is required
· Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required
· Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language is beneficial
