We are currently seeking a Design Manager to help grow our retail development group.  This position requires a skilled professional with 10+ years of store planning experience in retail / automotive facility types. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude, can navigate ambiguity, can operate independently in a leadership capacity, has strong communication and collaboration skills, and approaches their work with rigor and determination.

The Role

  • Lead design phase activities for individual projects in North America for new service center locations 
  • Manage external design team professionals, review their drawing in details for coordination and conformance to brand standards and ensure projects are on schedule, on budget and on brand.
  • Engage with internal Lucid stakeholders for visibility, review and approval of project designs
  • Collaborate with Lucid Real Estate and Construction Managers on site and feasibility evaluations, test fits, landlord coordination and lease reviews
  • Negotiate design professional fees and agreements and develop design phase project schedules
  • Help to expand the vendor base of architects, engineers, and design professionals, as well as managing their efforts through each design phase

  • Qualifications

  • 10+ yrs experience in the design and construction industry, with an emphasis on store planning
  • Past experience working on the client side for a brand / OEM
  • In depth, hands-on knowledge of commercial design and construction in the retail and automotive facility sectors
  • Strong background in technical / SMEPF coordination, and experience with typical TI development (millwork, storefronts)
  • Experience with automotive building types and/or technical coordination of similar equipment systems preferred
  • Experience with site development and EV charging coordination
  • Experience with planning / zoning approval processes
  • A proven track record of managing design team professionals and delivering high-quality projects on time and on schedule
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably architectural
  • A portfolio demonstrating past work experience
