Your role and your team:

You will report directly to the Engineering Manager responsible for the Design Engineers within the Mechanical Engineering Team. The Mechanical Engineering Team is one of the functions within the Lilium organization, its members being responsible for designing and developing among others the structure, landing gear, propulsion and battery system of our aircraft across the entire life cycle - from concept through to detailed design, testing and into serial production.

As a Design Engineer for the EWIS (Electrical Wiring and Interconnect System) you will be part of an interdisciplinary IPT (Integrated Project Team) responsible for the design of various system components. You will work with an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer and drive the development and detailed design of the EWIS system.

From harness routing to related parts design to related part design, you will play a key role in bringing our innovative aircraft to life.

 Your Day to Day:

  • Support the architecture level design of the EWIS
  • Interpret 2D system schematics and create complex harness routings in 3D using Siemens NX
  • Derive fully dimensioned 2D technical drawings appropriate for production and certification
  • Expand and maintain the standard electrical components database in Teamcenter
  • Consult with engineers of other disciplines, for example Manufacturing Engineers regarding the manufacture of your designs
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to provide technical direction on parts or other objects
  • Constantly learn new things – and share them with your team members
  • Work on any ad hoc related projects or tasks

 Your Profile:

  • University degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (MSc/M.Eng preferred)
  • Experience in creating harness manufacturing drawings (form boards), installation drawings, and managing BOMs is required.
  • Basic knowledge of aerospace electrical standards and specification (ATA Chapter 91, AMC 20-23, AC 25.1701-1, AC43.13-1B, CS25 sub part H, etc.) is required
  • Basic knowledge of PDM/PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) is required
  • Excellent understanding of general design principles and technical correlations is required
  • Strong motivation to help build structures and processes is required
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously if required
  • Target-oriented, driven work style with analytic problem-solving skills required
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment is required
  • Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language would be beneficial
