About the position:

As the Deployment Center Test Lab Manager you will play a critical role in helping Fluence deliver the next generation of energy storage technology through its Gridstack and Sunstack products.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Fluence energy storage systems test lab in Long Beach, California. Primary and hands on work will be carried out by you and people under your supervision.

You will be responsible for ensuring the technical availability of the lab, testing equipment, and modifications as required to meet requirements of testing criteria.

You will be responsible for assessing working conditions, identifying possible hazards, defining appropriate protective measures, selecting tailor-made work and equipment and coordinating work with others.

You will organize, support, and carry out the mechanical and electrical design, testing, commissioning and repair of test configurations and prototypes of battery storage systems.

You must be willing to occasionally work outside of normal work hours, if necessary, during periods of intense activity at the lab.

You will schedule and manage lab equipment setup in accordance with project schedules managed by the Product Development group management team.

You will be responsible for creating lab documentation, including safety protocols, lab-specific work procedures, and lab setup drawings

You will be responsible for designing the instruction and training programs to establish electrically qualified persons.

You must be a self-starter, able and willing to plan your work, and the work of others, to support Fluence business objectives, often without direct oversight.

What will our ideal candidate bring to Fluence?

Passion for energy storage, collaborative engineering, and learning from others

You are or have been a licensed electrician or electrical test engineer for low voltage power systems equipment (up to 1500Vdc/600Vac) and have extensive training and experience with hands-on electrical work and safety procedures.

You are familiar with the NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.

Knowledge of inverter and battery technology, electrical machines, control and control technology as well as basic knowledge of CAD.

You are experienced in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio).

You must have a positive attitude and high motivation and enthusiasm for new things – in the spirit of our company values

Bachelors' degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent lab experience

6+ years industry experience, with background in renewable energy systems, power conversion, energy storage, PV, power systems control, or similar field

Technical knowledge in broad area of engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Safety, Test/Validation)

Strong problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to travel up to 15% of time (trips to customers, suppliers, and occasionally to projects or testing sites).
