Position: Data Quality Analyst 

The Bioprocessing and Formulation (B&F) and Manufacturing teams at Pivot Bio work closely together to identify production conditions and carry out effective and consistent production. 

To successfully do this, these teams continuously generate new data for analysis. We are hiring a Data Quality Analyst that will analyze, curate, and ensure the integrity of B&F and manufacturing data. As part of this critical role, you will work with historical data that needs to be standardized and uploaded into a central repository, analyze and report on B&F and manufacturing data, and continuously improve data collection and data quality processes by serving as the coordinator of the LIMS requirements of B&F and Manufacturing. You will work with diverse teams within Pivot’s R&D, including Bioprocessing and Formulation, Manufacturing, Data Science, and Scientific Computing.  Location: Berkeley, CA or Remote 

 Responsibilities: 

  • Work with cross-functional teams  
  • Curate and ensure the integrity of historical data, including assay results and experiment metadata. 
  • Facilitate the conversion of semi-structured/non-standardized spreadsheet-like historical data into a structured and standardized database. 
  • Facilitate iterative improvement to quality of data and processes (ie. creation and iteration on standardized data collection processes within LIMS system, creation + execution of data entry / LIMS trainings, implementing good documentation practices) 
  • Provide constructive and actionable feedback to the B&F and manufacturing team to improve data quality process 
  • Develop analysis and storage pipelines to analyze manufacturing data 
  • Monitor and modify incoming third-party file formats to standardize data for ingestion into analysis and storage pipeline. 
  • Perform quality control on incoming third-party data and catalog data inconsistencies to provide feedback for improvement across stakeholders. 
  • All of the above responsibilities require building of relationships and clear and patient communication with team members and partners. 

 Requirements 

  • B.S. in STEM-related field 
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in data analysis/data curation 
  • Python and/or R experience for visualizations, running statistical analysis, and automating removal or correction of incorrectly formatted data 
  • Experience writing SQL queries against relational databases for LIMS software 
  • Experience using REST APIs to retrieve and modify data in a user-oriented environment 
  • Strong attention to detail and orientation to process 
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to a range of stakeholders with different data needs
