My Impact as a Data Engineer 

We are looking for someone that will enjoy working with a world class team comprised of leading aerospace and technology thinkers as well as some of the finest engineering talent. What success will look like for the Data Engineer

  • Collaborate with both the IT and Digital Technologies teams to design, deploy and iterate on solutions for the test data generated by our aircraft and standalone test rigs. This includes processing, storage, management, analysis, and visualisation.
  • Gather requirements from our Finance, People and Supply Chain teams and leverage Business Intelligence (while empowering users with basic training) to bring together and report on data from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Resources (HR) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) services.     
  • Deliver an Enterprise Service Bus that can initially support the integration of our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) services and scale as more are brought online.
  • Work closely with our Enterprise Architect/IT Strategist to implement a data architecture and operating model that provides an organisation wide framework to build upon.

Everything sounds very interesting but how do I know this is the role for me? 

We are looking for people that will have the following qualifications and experiences: 

  • Experience fine-tuning MSSQL and InfluxDB databases for performance and writing optimised SQL/InfluxQL/Flux queries for the retrieval of data by Engineering.
  • Experience data warehousing using Databricks, Snowflake or similar.
  • Experience designing and implementing of ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory, SQL Server Integration Services, Fivetran and/or Apache Airflow. 
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports and data visualisations using Tableau and/or PowerBI.
  • Fluency in one or more of the following scripting/programming languages: Python, Bash, C, C++ and C#.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel including Advanced Functions, Pivot Tables and VBA Macros.
  • Experience with Data Streaming (e.g. Kafka) to facilitate real-time reporting and systems.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience with Containerisation (Docker) and Container Orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Experience using Git for collaboration and version control of code.
  • Experience using a Cloud Platform such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Experience using the Atlassian suite (JIRA and Confluence).
  • Prior experience of working alongside Engineering and/or Software Development teams and following an Agile methodology.
  • Prior Involvement on a project that dealt with high volume IoT data ingestion.
